IMAGE PROJECTION
Display system and methods including a display device arranged to display a hologram and spatially modulate light and a hologram engine arranged to receive contribution information identifying contributory and non-contributory areas of the display device based on the location of an entrance pupil. The contributory areas of the display device propagate light passing through the entrance pupil at the determined location. The non-contributory areas of the display device propagate light stopped by the entrance pupil at the determined location. The contribution information identifies (i) at least one primary contributory area of the display device that contributes to a primary image and (ii) at least one secondary contributory area of the display device that contributes to a secondary image. The hologram engine is arranged to determine a hologram based on the at least one primary contributory area of the display device identified by the processing engine.

The device for manufacturing a display lens including a holographic optical element formed by recording a hologram on a photosensitive substrate, in which a substrate is coated with a photosensitive material, through irradiation of laser beams includes: a first laser light incidence unit configured to cause first laser light, converging along an irradiation direction, to be incident on one surface of the photosensitive substrate; and a second laser light incidence unit configured to cause second laser light, diverging at a plurality of points along an irradiation direction, to be incident on the other surface of the photosensitive substrate.
Hologram display device and method for manufacturing the same
A hologram display device includes a light source unit that emits light, a spatial light modulator that modulates the light emitted from the light source unit, and a random pinhole panel. The random pinhole panel includes a plurality of pinholes of a random position or a random size and is arranged in line with an output part of the spatial light modulator. In the hologram display device and the method of manufacturing the hologram display device, a position and size of a random pinhole on the random pinhole are not limited to inside each pixel of the spatial light modulator.
Methods and Systems for Minimizing Haze During Holographic Recording
Methods and systems for forming holographic gratings are described herein. The methods and systems may decrease the amount of haze produced during exposure of a holographic recording medium. In some embodiments, the methods and systems include a holographic recording medium; a master hologram containing a grating; and a light source and moveable deflector configured to diffract light through the master hologram into the holographic medium to form a holographic interference pattern. The moveable deflector is configured to move in a direction parallel to the extending direction of the grating. Advantageously, moving the light in this direction allows the holographic interference pattern to remain stationary while there is a spatio-temporal displacement and cancellation of unwanted intensity nonuniformities.
Angularly selective dimming element, method of fabricating the same and optical device containing the same
An optical device having suppressed rainbow effect is provided. The optical device includes a light source configured to generate an image light, an optical combiner coupled with the light source and configured to direct the image light to an eye-box of the optical device, and a dimming element disposed at the optical combiner. The optical combiner includes at least one diffractive element. The optical combiner has a first side facing the eye-box and an opposing second side facing a real world, and the dimming element is disposed at the second side of the optical combiner. The dimming element is configured to receive a light from the real world and significantly attenuate an intensity of the light having an incidence angle in a predetermined range.
DISPLAY DEVICE
A display device includes a light source part including a first light source and a second light source, a collimation lens that collimates light incident from the light source part, a wave guide that guides and diffracts the light incident from the collimation lens, a spatial light modulator that modulates the light passing through the wave guide so as to form a holographic pattern for reproducing a holographic image, a focusing optical system that focuses the holographic image on a space, and a light separating plate disposed between the light source part and the collimation lens, the light separating plate separating light of the first light source and light of the second light source from each other.

Totagraphy: Coherent diffractive/digital information reconstruction by iterative phase recovery using special masks
A totagram is produced by an iterative spectral phase recovery process resulting in complete information recovery using special masks, without a reference beam. Using these special masking systems reduce computation time, number of masks, and number of iterations. The special masking system is (1) a unity mask together with one or more bipolar binary masks with elements equal to 1 and −1, or (2) a unity mask together with one or more phase masks, or (3) a unity mask together with one pair of masks or more than one pair of masks having binary amplitudes of 0's and 1's, in which the masks in the pair are complementary to each other with respect to amplitude, or (4) one or more pairs of complementary masks with binary amplitudes of 0's and 1's without a unity mask.
