A method, an interferometer, and a signal processing device, each for determining an input phase and/or an input amplitude of an input light field, are disclosed. Here, an input light field is divided into a first light field and a second light field by amplitude splitting. The first light field and the second light field are propagated such that the propagated second light field is defocused relative to the propagated first light field. The propagated first light field is superimposed on the propagated light field and caused to interfere.

Holographic display apparatus and method for providing expanded viewing window

Provided is a holographic display apparatus including a light source configured to emit light, a spatial light modulator configured to form a hologram pattern to modulate the light incident thereon and reproduce a hologram image, the spatial light modulator including a plurality of display pixels that are arranged two-dimensionally, and an optical element provided opposite a light incidence surface of the spatial light modulator or a light exit surface of the spatial light modulator, the optical element including an array of a plurality of light transmission patterns that are arranged irregularly.

COMPACT DIGITAL HOLOGRAPHIC MICROSCOPE FOR PLANETARY IMAGING OR ENDOSCOPY

In situ investigation of microbial life in extreme environments can be carried out with microscopes capable of imaging 3-dimensional volumes and tracking particle motion. A lensless digital holographic microscope is disclosed that provides roughly 1.5 micron resolution in a compact, robust package suitable for remote deployment. High resolution is achieved by generating high numerical-aperture input beams with radial gradient-index rod lenses. The ability to detect and track prokaryotes was explored using bacterial strains of two different sizes. In the larger strain, a variety of motions were seen, while the smaller strain was used to demonstrate a detection capability down to micron scales.

Complex spatial light modulator and 3D image display including the same

A complex spatial light modulator for modulating a phase and amplitude of a light beam and a 3-dimensional (3D) display including the same are provided. The complex spatial light modulator includes a spatial light modulator modulating a phase of a light beam, a lenticular lens array disposed next to the spatial light modulator, and a volume holographic lens array spaced apart from the lenticular lens array and allowing light beams output from the lenticular lens array to be superimposed and to interfere with each other, and so that the phase and an amplitude of the light beam are simultaneously modulated.

HOLOGRAPHIC CHARACTERIZATION AND PLAYBACK APPARATUS

A holographic characterization and playback apparatus is provided, which includes a light source, an optical path-forming optical system for separating the light emitted from the light source into a probe light and a reference light of different polarizations, and combining optical paths of the probe light and the reference light.

APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING A REPLICA HOLOGRAM, REPLICA HOLOGRAM AND ILLUMINATING DEVICE FOR A VEHICLE

A device for manufacturing a replica hologram, comprising a holder for a light-sensitive recording material, into which the replica hologram is to be imprinted, a holder for a master hologram, as well as a lighting device for generating light for exposing the master hologram, the color of the light generated by the lighting device being variable, and the lighting device comprising optics for exposing the master hologram with the aid of the light generated by the lighting device, the device being designed in such a way that the light emanating from the master hologram impinges on the recording material to manufacture the replica hologram.

Holographic display device

The invention relates to a holographic display device for representing a two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional scene. The holographic display device comprises at least one spatial light modulator device and an optical component. The at least one spatial light modulator device is provided in order to reconstruct the scene and in order to generate at least one virtual visibility region in an observer plane. The optical component is configured with at least two regions that have a different transparency to one another, the value of the transparency respectively lying between 0 and 1. Furthermore, the optical component is arranged in the display device in such a way that it provides filtering, to be carried out at least partially, of a diffraction order spot in at least one diffraction order inside the virtual visibility region.
