Polyurethane injected boot assembly and associated manufacturing method
A footwear assembly having an upper that comprises a neoprene sock with a foot portion integrally connected to a leg portion. The foot portion has heel, vamp and under-foot portions. The leg portion has front shin, side wall, and rear calf-side portions. The upper has a unitary, outer, injection molded layer molded directly onto the foot and shin portions of the neoprene sock, while the sidewall and rear calf-side portions remain substantially uncovered by the injection molded layer. The injection molded layer encases the foot portion of the neoprene sock. The injection molded layer on the shin portion defines a shin guard portion having a necked down area integrally connected to the injection molded layer at the vamp portion, wherein the shin guard extends upwardly from the necked-down portion in an outwardly diverging shape away from the vamp.
SHOE
Described is a shoe, in particular an athletic shoe. The shoe can include a sole and a shoe upper. The shoe upper can include (a.) a lateral portion; (b.) a medial portion; and (c.) intermediate portion between the lateral portion and the medial portion. The intermediate portion can include a portion uncoated by a first coating portion on the lateral portion and a second coating portion on the medial portion.
Footwear including uppers with midfoot and/or forefoot supporting members
Footwear uppers include: (a) a first upper member (formed from one or more component parts) including: one or more lace-engaging openings formed as elongated through hole openings with a length dimension extending in a top-to-bottom direction of the upper and a width dimension extending in a heel-to-toe direction of the upper, and wherein the length dimension is at least two times larger than the width dimension; (b) one or more midfoot supporting gussets located inside the first upper member, the midfoot supporting gusset(s) including one or more lace-engaging through holes (configured to pair up with the corresponding one or more lace-engaging openings of the first upper member); and (c) a lace extending through the lace-engaging opening(s) and the lace-engaging through hole(s). When the lace is tightened, the lace-engaging through hole(s) will at least partially align with a portion of its corresponding lace-engaging opening.
