The present disclosure describes systems for data collection in an industrial environment having a self-sufficient data acquisition box for capturing and analyzing data in an industrial process. A system can include a data circuit for analyzing a plurality of sensor inputs, a network control circuit for sending and receiving information related to sensor inputs to an external system, wherein the system provides sensor data to one or more similarly configured systems, and wherein the data circuit dynamically nominates a similarly configured system capable of providing sensor data to replace the system.

A method for providing extended control of media displayed on individual and groups of digital signs for use in near realtime scenarios by leveraging the short message service (SMS) as a transport mechanism to enable immediate temporary or permanent changes to displayed media shown on digital signage. Each SMS message utilizes command codes and variable arguments to query for information to be returned or indicate actions to be performed, providing a subset of the data and control mechanisms exposed by the digital signage management service. SMS endpoints are authenticated against a whitelist also containing a list of valid digital signage management groups with associated message routing information. Data requests require no additional validation, while action requests include a secondary verification as a protection against caller ID spoofing.

Medical devices may have the ability to connect through a secure gateway to a network, including both local and external networks. According to the described system, a connection component of the medical device may include a wireless connection dongle system using a wireless adapter, such as a dongle, that is inserted into and/or otherwise coupled to the medical device and that transmits or casts information wirelessly, such as via real-time streaming, to a separate receiving display. The communication may be facilitated by another dongle inserted into and/or otherwise coupled to the receiving display that receives the casted display screen. This transmitted casting capability provides the ability to connect the medical device, such as a peritoneal dialysis machine, to other display devices to duplicate the screen of the medical device on one or more larger or more easily accessible displays via secure one-way communication.

The present embodiments relate generally to methods for providing viewing access to an ultrasound image feed generated at an ultrasound imaging machine. A multi-use display device may form a first link-layer connection with the ultrasound image machine for transmitting commands that control imaging parameters of the ultrasound image feed. The multi-use display device may then: determine link-layer connection parameters that allow the ultrasound imaging machine to form a second link-layer connection with a receiving device (the receiving device having no link-layer connection with the ultrasound imaging machine), and provide the connection parameters to the receiving device. The ultrasound imaging machine forms a second link-layer connection with the receiving device, based the connection parameters. The second link-layer connection is then used for receiving, at the receiving device, the ultrasound image feed controlled by the multi-use display device.
