Described herein is a method of generating aerosol from an aerosol-generating substrate using an aerosol-generating device, the aerosol-generating device comprising at least three heating zones disposed so as to each heat a different section of the substrate to generate an aerosol without burning. The method comprises sequentially generating aerosol from each different section of substrate, wherein during heating; (i) a section of substrate is heated to an aerosol-generation temperature; (ii) another section of substrate which is heated to an intermediate temperature which is below the aerosol-generation temperature but and approximately equal to or above the minimum operating temperature; (iii) at least one of the remaining sections of substrate are heated to a minimum operating temperature which is at least sufficient to prevent condensation of volatilized components on or in the vicinity of those sections; and wherein once aerosol has been generated from a section, (a) the temperature in that section is reduced from the aerosol-generation temperature to the minimum operating temperature, (b) the section previously heated to the intermediate temperature is heated to the aerosol-generation temperature, and (c) a further section is heated to the intermediate temperature.

Joint and blunt tips include at least one cut portion made into a corrugated section of the tip. The cut portion provides a suitable width to receive at least one flavor capsule to be nested therein. When rolled, the corrugated section of the tip forms a pattern which prevents the flavored capsule from falling out of the tip when the flavor capsule is crushed. The tip may be provided in a cylindrical tip form or a conical tip form and works with rolling machines. The cut portion may be formed in a vertical or horizontal configuration along the corrugated section of the tip. One embodiment may feature tips which include a cotton or absorbent member inserted within the cut portion nestled with the flavor capsule. Other embodiments include tips with an absorbent layer along the corrugated section to absorb the contents of the flavor capsule when crushed.

A pulverized leaf cigarette structure consisting of a smokable cylinder that is made of one hundred-percent (100%) pulverized leaf, such as tobacco or cannabis. Means for applying pressure facilitates a quantity of pulverized leaf to be formed into a cylinder with significant structure integrity. Once the pulverized leaf is within the means for applying pressure to the pulverized leaf is compressed into the cylinder shape. The pulverized leaf cylinder is then removed from the means for applying pressure and can be smoked. An extract obtained from a flower or bud can be infused into the pulverized leaf to increase the potency of physiological reactions from certain types of pulverized leaf.
