GEOLOGICAL LOG DATA PROCESSING METHODS AND APPARATUSES
A method and a resistivity image logging tool connected or connectable to one or more processing devices process geological log data to construct missing information from destroyed or occluded parts using cues from observed data. The geological log data signals can be generated through use of the logging tool having one or more electrodes interacting with a formation intersected by a borehole. The processing involves the steps of: in respect of one or more data dimensions associated with missing values in a log data set, decomposing the signal into a plurality of morphological components; and morphologically reconstructing the signal such that missing values are estimated.
Activity recognition method with automatic training based on inertial sensors
Technological advancements are disclosed that utilize inertial sensor data associated with a device to determine a new feature array and if the new feature array is within an existing class within a state space associated with the inertial sensor data. In response to the new feature array being included in the existing class, the new feature array is added to the existing class and a representation of the existing class in the state space is updated based on the new feature array and an existing representation of the existing class. In response to the new feature array not being included in the existing class, a new class is created based on the new feature array.

Method and system for modifying a beacon light source for use in a light based positioning system
In one aspect, the present disclosure related to a method for modifying a beacon light source for use in a light-based positioning system. In some embodiments, the method includes selecting a modulation scheme for the light source, determining a duty cycle for the light source based on the modulation scheme, the duty cycle having a proportion of time the light source is in an on state and a corresponding proportion of time the light source is in an off state, the proportion of time the light source is in an off state resulting in reduced luminosity of the light source, and supplying additional power to the light source to compensate for the reduced luminosity of the light source by the duty cycle.
Breast cancer detection system, breast cancer detection method, breast cancer detection program, and computer-readable recording medium having breast cancer detection program recorded thereon
A model calculating device calculates a mammary gland normal architecture model that scatters in a fan shape from the nipple toward the greater pectoral muscle with respect to the X-ray image of the breast. An orientation extracting device extracts linear components orientations of a region image texture that form a shape of a shadow in the breast X-ray image using a Gabor filter. A lesion determining device compares the mammary gland orientation in the normal architecture model calculated by the model calculating device and the orientation extracted by the orientation extracting device with respect to a region of interest in the X-ray image of the breast including architectural distortion candidates of the mammary gland detected by a preprocessing device to calculate a feature quantity based on a difference between the orientations and determines whether the candidates are an architectural distortion of the mammary gland based on the feature quantity.
Detecting conflicts between multiple different encoded signals within imagery, using only a subset of available image data
This disclosure relates to advanced signal processing technology including steganographic embedding and digital watermarking. One combination disclosed in the description includes an apparatus comprising: memory storing an image comprising a plurality of color channels; means for locating image areas including an encoded signal with each color channel of the plurality of color channels, said means for locating identifying a plurality of image areas; means for generating one or more detectability measures corresponding to the encoded signal for each of the plurality of image areas; means for determining whether the encoded signal can be decoded from the plurality of image areas to obtain a plural-bit message component carried therein; means for selecting, per color channel, only one (1) image area as a validation point based on one or more generated detectability measures for that color channel, and based on whether the one (1) image area includes a decodable plural-bit message component; and means for generating information associated with a spatial location of each of the validation points in the image. Of course, other technology, features and combinations are described as well.
Adaptive Image Processing
An imaging device includes one or more processors; and a computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the imaging device to perform functions including: capturing a first image and thereafter a second image; making a determination of whether or not a difference between the first image and the second image is greater than a threshold value; generating a third image by processing the second image using an image processing algorithm that corresponds to the determination; and displaying the third image.
METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING GEOLOGICAL AND DRILLING PATTERNS IN A UNIDIMENSIONAL SPACE VIA PERIODIC ORTHOGONAL FUNCTIONS APPLIED TO DRILLING PARAMETER DATA
The present invention relates to a technique for identifying geological and drilling patterns by analyzing data from drilling parameters, using periodic orthogonal functions applied to such data. The use of averages to convert time data to depth data acts as a low-pass filter, attenuating the textural information from the torque data. Therefore, with the use of simple statistical filters combined with the use of multidimensional data visualization methods, it is possible to discretize drilling and geological patterns in the depth data acquired, aiding in the characterization of the top of the pre-salt carbonate reservoir, minimizing the geological and engineering risk in these operations. It is noted that in some situations of well kill, it is common not to have perceptible contrasts when analyzing the drilling parameters in the transition between the basal anhydrite and the carbonates, with the use of techniques such as PCA (Principal Components Analysis) being necessary in order to increase the method's power of discrimination. The technique disclosed minimizes the exploratory risks in pre-salt kill situations, as it allows precise characterization of the top of the carbonate reservoir.
