Cards and devices with magnetic emulators with zoning control and advanced interiors
A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to act as a magnetic stripe read-head detector and a data transmitter. A multiple layer flexible PCB may be fabricated to include multiple magnetic emulators. An emulator may include a coil that includes magnetic, ferromagnetic, or ferromagnetic, material in the coil's interior. Coils may be associated with zones. As a read-head is detected to move from zone-to-zone, coils may be activated to transmit information in those zones.
Barcode-reading system
This patent specification describes a barcode-reading enhancement accessory for a mobile device having a barcode-reading capability. The accessory may include an outer case and an inner carriage. A mobile device is encased in the inner carriage, and the combination of the inner carriage and the mobile device may be accommodated in the outer case. The inner carriage is configured to accommodate a mobile device of a particular size such that a mobile device of a different size may be accommodated in the outer case using a different inner carriage. The accessory may also include an optic system to fold an optical path of a field of illumination of a light source of the mobile device and/or a field of view of a camera of the mobile device.

The combined functions requires two command sets and a method to distinguish between them, the legacy command set of the existing reader to be replaced which is typically strings of American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) eight bit characters with a line terminator character and the contact-less chip card requiring the ability to send and receive all possible eight bit values with varying length commands and not having a dedicated character value to indicate the end of a command.
Method for estimating a quantity of a blood component in a fluid receiver and corresponding error
A method and system for communicating estimated blood loss parameters of a patient to a user, the method comprising: receiving data representative of an image, of a fluid receiver; automatically detecting a region within the image associated with a volume of fluid received at the fluid receiver, the volume of fluid including a blood component; calculating an estimated amount of the blood component present in the volume of fluid based upon a color parameter represented in the region, and determining a bias error associated with the estimated amount of the blood component; updating an analysis of an aggregate amount of the blood component and an aggregate bias error associated with blood loss of the patient, based upon the estimated amount of the blood component and the bias error; and providing information from the analysis of the aggregate amount of the blood component and the aggregate bias error, to the user.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONTACTLESS TRANSMISSION OF TRANSACTIONAL INFORMATION
Embodiments described herein disclose a mobile device system for displaying contactless payment options to a user of a mobile device. A location of the device may be detected. The location may be transmitted to a payment services provider, and information indicating that the location corresponds to a merchant having contactless payment options may be received. In response, graphical depictions of payment options associated with a plurality of payment sources are displayed on a touch-sensitive display of the mobile device. A selection of one of the graphical depictions is received, and in response, one or more transceivers of the mobile device, such as one or more NFC transceivers, may be activated. The activation may cause the transceivers to transmit a personal account number to a point-of-sale terminal. Thus, the user is presented with contactless payment options based on a geographical location, and may be presented with a suggested payment source.
Contactless Smart-card Reader with Security and Hybrid Multi-core Parallel Verifying Process
A contactless smart-card reader with security and hybrid multi-core parallel verifying process is provided. The reader obtains a card number via an antenna and a card-recognizing unit. The reader has multiple issuer-SAM controllers and a maincontroller to synchronously compute authentication codes under a multiplexing-mode. The maincontroller verifies the contactless smart-card by the authentication codes one-by-one to obtain a correct authentication code authorized by the contactless smart-card. When the correct authentication code is generated by any one of the issuer-SAM controllers, said issuer-SAM controller performs the compounded-security-access-software program. When the correct authentication code is generated by the maincontroller, the maincontroller performs the dedicated-security-access-software program.
Multi-Capability Apparatus Supporting Background RFID Tag-Reading and Corresponding Methods
A portable multi-capability apparatus has a non-RFID capability and an RFID-tag reading capability. Upon determining that the apparatus is employing the non-RFID capability, the apparatus uses information regarding the non-RFID to determine a location of the apparatus. The apparatus then uses the RFID-tag reading capability in a ping mode of operation as a background task while also continuing to simultaneously use the non-RFID capability. When an RFID tag response to an RFID-tag reading ping, the apparatus correlates the RFID-tag response to the location of the apparatus is previously determined.
Hybrid transaction card reader system
A hybrid transaction card reader system includes a hybrid transaction card reader and a device for protecting the hybrid reader. The hybrid transaction card reader includes a magnetic strip reader and a chip reader. The device for protecting the hybrid reader includes an upper protective printed circuit and a lower protective printed circuit. The hybrid reader further includes a lateral protective printed circuit which includes a superposition of unitary printed circuits, the plane of superposition of the unitary printed circuits being parallel to the plane of the upper protective printed circuit and to the plane of the lower protective printed circuit.
