Ultrasonic identification of replaceable component for host system
A system, method and device are provided for detecting the presence of, and/or obtain information about, a replaceable component for a host system. A host system has an ultrasonic transducer or transducer pair that detects the presence of, and/or obtains information about, a replaceable component for a host system through receipt or non-receipt of an ultrasonic signal. The replaceable component includes a key or other feature that either allows the transmission or reflection of a transmitted ultrasonic signal, or which does not allow the reception or reflection of the transmitted ultrasonic signal, depending on the host configuration.
OPERATING METHOD FOR CARD READER
An operating method for a card reader, comprising: powering on a card reader, and setting an operating mode according to the type of a device connected thereto; judging the operating mode, waiting to receive audio data if the operating mode is an audio mode, converting the received audio data into a digital signal, forming a data packet by the digital signal, parsing the data packet to obtain a parsing result, judging an instruction type according to the parsing result, executing a corresponding operation according to the instruction type, converting the obtained operation result into an audio data packet, and sending the audio data packet to the device connected thereto; and waiting to receive USB data if the operating mode is a USB mode, judging an instruction type of the received USB data, executing a corresponding operation according to the instruction type, and returning the operation result to the device connected thereto. According to the present invention, a card reader conducts data communication with a device through an audio module or a USB module, thereby not depending on the USB module in the existing card reader to conduct data communication any longer, having relatively good compatibility, and improving the user experience.

Card connector
A card connector includes a base, a shell and a contact. The contact has a contact portion, a first elastic portion and a second elastic portion. The contact portion abuts an electrode of an IC card inserted into a slot between the base and the shell. The first elastic portion extends from the contact portion in an insertion direction of the IC card and has a first end fixed to the base. The second elastic portion extends from the contact portion in an ejection direction of the IC card and has a second end fixed to the base.

INFORMATION BEARING MEDIUM AND INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM
An information processing system includes an information bearing medium and an information reading unit. The information bearing medium has a two-dimensional array of unit data zones. Marks are provided on some of the unit data zones so as to form a digital code. Mark patterns of any two Y-directional adjacent unit data zone strings based on the arrangement of marks in an X-direction differ from each other. The information reading unit generates a data string on the basis of a unit signal formed from a plurality of signals output from a group of detection units that detect the marks in synchronization and recognizes the digital code of the information bearing medium on the basis of a group of the data strings sequentially obtained from the array of the unit data zones.

Imaging device with improved lamp mode
Systems and methods for providing an improved lamp mode for an imaging device. The imaging device may include an image sensor; an illumination source; and a processing assembly communicatively coupled to the image sensor and the illumination source, and the processing assembly may be configured to: responsive to a scanning event trigger, cause the imaging device to enter a first illumination mode, wherein, in the first illumination mode, a first activation duration of the illumination source is synchronized with an image frame rate of the image sensor to capture image data at the image sensor for indicia decoding; and responsive to sensing an external signal at the imaging device, cause the imaging device to enter or exit a second illumination mode, wherein, in the second illumination mode, a second activation duration of the illumination source is greater than the first activation duration.

Automated banking machine that outputs interference signals to jam reading ability of unauthorized card reader devices
A banking system is controlled responsive to data read from data bearing records. The system comprises an automated banking machine. The machine includes at least one type of data reader, which includes a card reader. The machine also includes an anti-fraud arrangement that can deter effective operation of unauthorized devices attached to the machine. Such unauthorized devices may include a fraudulent card reader placed adjacent to a card entry slot that leads to the card reader. The arrangement can sense a fraudulent card reader installed on the machine. The arrangement can additionally emit jamming signals that interfere with an ability of a sensed fraudulent card reader to accurately read card data.
