System and method for authenticating before waking an information handling system
A system and method using a system for authenticating a person as an authorized user before waking an information handling system from an inactive state. A sensor receives an input from a person, captures information about the person and a microcontroller unit (MCU) determines if the captured information matches information corresponding to an authorized user. If the MCU determines the captured information corresponds to information corresponding to an authorized user, the MCU sends a command to one of a central processing unit (CPU) or an embedded controller (EC) to change operation of the information handling system to an active state. If the MCU determines the captured information does not correspond to information corresponding to an authorized user, no command is sent to the CPU or EC to change operation of the information handling system.
Methods and apparatus to count people
Methods and apparatus to count people are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein include means for discarding existing characteristic datasets from a list; means for populating the list with first characteristic datasets obtained from a first plurality of images representative of an environment during a first period of time of a media presentation; means for limiting a number of the first characteristic datasets stored in the list for a first location represented in the first plurality of images; and means for comparing the first characteristic datasets to each other to determine a first number of unique faces in the environment during the first period of time, wherein the means for discarding is to delete the first characteristic datasets from the list, and the means for populating is to re-populate the list with second characteristic datasets obtained from a second plurality of images representative of the environment.
KEY ENTRY DEVICE
A key entry device including a housing, a keypad array disposed within the housing and including a plurality of keys, a key contact array disposed within the housing below the keypad array and including a plurality of contact pairs, a dome array underlying the keypad array and the key contact array and including a plurality of domes, and a protrusion array underlying the dome array and including a plurality of protrusions, whereby depression of one of the plurality of keys of the keypad array causes a corresponding one of the domes of the dome array to be displaced downwardly and to be deformed by pushing engagement with a corresponding one of the protrusions of the protrusion array into contact with at least one of the contact pairs of the key contact array.
Light weight composite material systems, polymeric materials, and methods
The present invention relates to filled polymeric materials including a polymer and a filler distributed within the polymer, and to light weight composites which comprise at least a pair of metallic layers and a polymeric layer interposed between the pair of metallic layers, the polymeric layer containing the filled polymeric material. The composite materials of the present invention may be formed using conventional stamping equipment at ambient temperatures. Composite materials of the present invention may also be capable of being welded to other metal materials. The composite materials may be employed in an automotive part. Preferred composite materials include one or any combination of the following features: metallic fibers, ribbon fibers; or a polyolefin.
Contactlessly readable tag, method for manufacture of contactlessly readable tag, identification device, and method for reading identifying information
An objective of the present invention is to provide a contactlessly readable tag, method for manufacture of contactlessly readable tag, identification device, and method for reading identifying information, capable of effecting an increased capacity in recorded information and improved precision in reading said recorded information. Provided is a contactlessly readable tag, comprising a metal part and an electromagnetic wave absorption body. The manner in which the metal part and the electromagnetic wave absorption body are installed is associated with identifying information. When the tag is irradiated with electromagnetic waves, it is possible to identify the identifying information on the basis of the amplitude of the electromagnetic waves reflected by the tag, and the shift in either the frequency or the phase of said reflected electromagnetic waves.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED USAGE OF CARD READERS AND MODULAR ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER POINT OF SALE DEVICE
A contactless card reader comprises a contactless card reader front-end coupled to a processor. A communications module is coupled to the processor and a set of sensors is coupled to the processor. The set of sensors determines parameters related to the location, orientation and motion of the card reader. The processor receives the parameters from the set of sensors and utilizes the parameters and scenario configuration data to evaluate a rule. The result of the evaluation of the rule results in a limitation on the operation of the card reader. The communications module is configured to intermittently receive the scenario configuration data from external sources.

Orientation-agnostic method to interface to printed memory
An electronic system for identifying an article can include a printed memory having a plurality of contact pads electrically coupled to a plurality of landing pads positioned on a first side of a printed circuit board (PCB) substrate. The plurality of landing pads can be electrically coupled to a plurality of endless, concentric contact lines positioned on a second side of the PCB substrate through a plurality of vias that extend through a thickness of the PCB substrate and a plurality of traces that electrically couple the plurality of vias with the plurality of landing pads. To perform a memory operation on the printed memory, contact probes of a reader are physically and electrically contacted with the plurality of concentric contact lines. In some implementations, the memory operation can be performed on the printed memory irrespective of a rotational orientation of the printed memory relative to the reader.
Reader and data reading device
A data reading device including a hangtag and a reader is provided. The hangtag includes a hangtag main body and a connection element including an RFID component, wherein the connection element passes through the hangtag main body, and two opposite ends with a first expansion and a second expansion abut against the surfaces of the hangtag main body. The reader includes a case, a reading head, and a circuit board. The case has a containing groove which has a groove shape corresponding to at least partial outer shape of the hangtag main body, the first expansion, and the second expansion. The reading head and the circuit board are set in the case, and electrically connected. When the hangtag with partial outer shape corresponding to the groove shape of the containing groove inserts in the containing groove, the RFID component corresponds to the reading head accurately to be connected rapidly.
