Information processing apparatus and information processing method

An information processing apparatus includes a first reader electrically reading a first information in a non-contact manner; a second reader electrically or magnetically reading a second information; a touch panel electrically detecting the contact or proximity of an object; and a CPU electrically connected to the first reader, the second reader, and the touch panel. The CPU exclusively controls an ON/OFF of the first reading function of the first reader and an ON/OFF of the input detection function of the touch panel, based on a detection that the communication medium is placed in a predetermined position with respect to the first reader or a detection that the card is placed in a predetermined position with respect to the second reader.

Methods and systems for improved tag identification

Apparatuses, systems, and methods of manufacturing are described that provide improved tag identification. An example system includes a radio-frequency identification (RFID) scanner that receives a stream of RFID tags each associated with a respective article. The system further includes a first sensor attached to the RFID scanner that generates first positional data and a second sensor positioned separate from the first sensor that generates second positional data. The system also includes a computing device communicably coupled with the RFID scanner, the first sensor, and the second sensor. The computing device receives the stream of RFID tags, receives first positional data from the first sensor, receives second positional data from the second sensor, and determines an intended RFID tag from amongst the stream of RFID tags based upon the first positional data and the second positional data.

Methods and apparatus for conducting secure magnetic stripe card transactions with a proximity payment device

Methods and apparatus for enabling a proximity payment device to generate dynamic data for securely conducting a transaction by emulating a magnetic stripe payment card. In an embodiment, a mobile device processor transmits information to a digital enablement service computer to activate a simulated magnetic stripe payment wallet application stored in the mobile device. The mobile device then receives one or more cryptographic keys, generates an unpredictable number (UN), generates dynamic CVC3 data based on the UN, and then assembles emulated magnetic stripe data. During initiation of a purchase transaction, the mobile device processor transmits the emulated magnetic stripe data to a communications interface associated with a merchant device.

Apparatus and method for searching and registering tags in local positioning system

The invention relates to local positioning and more particularly to methods of searching and registering tags in a local positioning system. A method of registering tags in a local positioning system is provided. Registering is performed in near-field mode. Tag stores identifying data of the local positioning system. Positioning unit stores identifying data of the tag. Furthermore, a method of searching a tag registered in a local positioning system is provided. Positioning units send address search packets into the space of the local positioning system. Desired tag responds with a positioning pulse. There is also provided a method of searching identifying data of a tag not registered in a local positioning system. Positioning units send broadcast search packets into the space of the local positioning system. Bisection method is used to detect identifying data of the tag. The invention can reduce power consumption by the tag and the positioning unit, and eliminate overlapping the signals received from a plurality of tags.

CAPACITIVE SENSING IDENTIFICATION TAG

A capacitive sensing identification tag includes a substrate and a touch sensing layer disposed on one side of the substrate. The touch sensing layer includes high-sensing regions and low-sensing regions with different shapes. Both the high-sensing regions and the low-sensing regions have different stacked conductive layers and dielectric layers. A difference between the high-sensing regions and the low-sensing regions is that each of the high-sensing regions contains a dielectric layer, while each of the low-sensing regions does not. The capacitive sensing identification tag achieves an effect of sampling and identification of a touch panel by a capacitive sensing quantity that is different from a capacitive touch panel. And the capacitive sensing identification tag will not cause a difference in color or light transmittance between the high-sensing regions and the low-sensing regions, so there is no visible difference between the high-sensing regions and the low-sensing regions.

System and method for retrieving information from an information carrier by means of a capacitive touch screen

The present invention relates to a method comprising providing one or more information carrier(s) with a dielectric and/or conductive pattern and a detection device having a capacitive touch screen and inducing an interaction between the information carrier and the touch screen, wherein the interaction is based on a difference in the dielectric coefficient and/or the conductivity of the pattern and generates a touch signal and wherein the interaction is induced by relative motion between the information carrier and the touch screen. The invention further relates to a system comprising an information carrier comprising a dielectric and/or conductive pattern which encodes information and a detection device having a touch screen; the detection device is able to decode the information upon interaction between the information carrier and the touch screen, wherein the interaction is caused by a difference in the dielectric coefficient and/or the conductivity of the pattern.

Magnetic stripe reader tamper protection
09852422 · 2017-12-26 · ·

A technique for tamper protection of incoming data signal to an electronic device is disclosed. An intentional interference signal is generated and modulated onto the incoming data signal as one composite input signal, to prevent unauthorized acquisition of valid data from the incoming data signal. The magnitude of the interference signal is adjusted to correspond to the magnitude of the incoming data signal, thereby preventing an attacker from properly differentiating the two different signals and/or decoding the valid data from the composite input signal. Once the composite input signal is safely received within the device, the interference signal can be filtered out in either analog mode or digital mode.
