Coin machine using proximity and ambient light sensing technology
A coin acceptor includes main body having coin dispenser mounted therein, coin tubes mounted in the main body and disposed at the bottom side of the coin dispenser, and sensing device including multiple optical sensor modules respectively aimed at the coin tubes. The distance between each optical sensor module and the coins in the respective coin tube is calculated by: measuring the time taken for the reflected light to travel from the coins in the respective coin tube to the proximity sensor of the respective optical sensor module and then multiplying the time thus measured by the speed of light. The number of coins in each coin tube is calculated by: deducting the distance between the respective optical sensor module and the coins in the respective coin tube from the pre-measured depth of the empty coin tube, and then dividing the reminder thus obtained by the thickness of single coin.
System, method and apparatus for repurposing currency
A method of repurposing coins includes the acts of discharging processed mixed coins into a coin bin, receiving a first request for a number of or value of coins of a first denomination from an authorized person, outputting the mixed coins from the coin bin onto a coin conveyor responsive to the received first request, conveying the mixed coins output from the coin bin, using the coin conveyor, to the coin processing machine for repurposing, and discharging the coins of the first denomination from the coin processing machine to a secure coin cassette and discharging coins of a denomination other than the first denomination back to the coin bin. These acts of outputting, conveying and discharging are continued until the number of or value of coins of the first denomination have been discharged to the secure coin cassette.

Coin serializer with filter disk for filtering debris and foreign objects
A filter disk filters coins deposited into coin machines for counting, sorting, separating or processing coins to prevent the introduction or entry of foreign objects and debris into the coin machine, thus protecting and ensuring the proper functioning of the machine.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR RECEIVING AND SORTING DISKS
An apparatus for receiving and sorting disks includes a wheel having at least one well for receiving a disk, a motor coupled to the wheel, a collecting device positioned relative to the wheel, a disk sensor, an ejector, and a controller. The collecting device has at least a first collector and a second collector configured for receiving disks. The disk sensor is configured to detect a value of a parameter of a disk received in the well and generate a parameter value signal. The ejector is coupled to the wheel proximate the well and configured to eject a disk from the well in a plane parallel to a bottom surface of the wheel in response to an eject signal. The controller is operably coupled with the disk sensor and the ejector.

COIN PROCESSING APPARATUS
A coin processing apparatus including a coin identification unit, a coin sort unit, a plurality of coin tubes, a coin payment unit, an initial replenishment coin tube storing coins of a predetermined initial replenishment coin number in an initial replenishment state, an increase coin tube not storing the coins in the initial replenishment state, and an initial replenishment state setting unit causing an apparatus body to recognize the initial replenishment state. The coin sort unit sorts the coins of the initial replenishment coin number into the initial replenishment coin tube and sorts coins more than the coins corresponding to the initial replenishment coin number into the increase coin tube. The coin payment unit pays the coins preferentially from the increase coin tube.
