A method and associated security apparatus for providing security to an automatic teller machine (ATM) having a cash capture device in a presenter area of the ATM. The cash capture device is detected by a proximity detector in the security apparatus in the ATM. A detecting signal is generated by the proximity detector in response to the cash capture device being detected. The detecting signal is received by control circuitry in the security apparatus and in response, the control circuitry causes a dispensing shutter of the ATM to remain in an open position. Each proximity detector is electrically connected to the control circuitry. The dispensing shutter in the open position is configured, in an absence of the cash capture device in the ATM, to dispense paper currency processed and stored in the presenter area of the ATM. security apparatus includes the proximity detector and the control circuitry.

A coin chute for a vending machine may include one or more anti-fishing assemblies located in the vicinity of the coin chute's opening for receiving coins. The anti-fishing assemblies may include one or more rotatable anti-fishing fingers that project into a coin channel. The anti-fling fingers may rotate out of the coin channel to allow inserted coins to pass. In addition, the anti-fishing fingers prevent withdrawal of inserted coins out of the coin channel. The anti-fishing assemblies may be in addition to anti-pull back assemblies that prevent inserted coins from being withdrawn back past a coin discriminator.

A coin chute for a vending machine may include one or more anti-fishing assemblies located in the vicinity of the coin chute's opening for receiving coins. The anti-fishing assemblies may include one or more rotatable anti-fishing fingers that project into a coin channel. The anti-fling fingers may rotate out of the coin channel to allow inserted coins to pass. In addition, the anti-fishing fingers prevent withdrawal of inserted coins out of the coin channel. The anti-fishing assemblies may be in addition to anti-pull back assemblies that prevent inserted coins from being withdrawn back past a coin discriminator.

The disclosure relates to a coin feeding unit for a coin handling machine, the coin feeding unit comprising: a coin guiding arrangement, and a coin transport arrangement defining a movable transport surface, wherein said coin guiding arrangement is configured to receive coins and to guide said received coins to an inner coin arrival surface of the coin guiding arrangement, wherein the coin transport arrangement is configured to move said coins, on the movable transport surface, from the coin arrival surface to a coin output position, wherein a discharge gate is provided in the coin guiding arrangement, at the coin arrival surface, for discharging unwanted objects residing thereon, wherein the discharge gate is slidably arranged in the coin guiding arrangement so as to be displaceable, between a closed position and an open position.

The disclosure relates to a coin feeding unit for a coin handling machine, the coin feeding unit comprising: a coin guiding arrangement, and a coin transport arrangement defining a movable transport surface, wherein said coin guiding arrangement is configured to receive coins and to guide said received coins to an inner coin arrival surface of the coin guiding arrangement, wherein the coin transport arrangement is configured to move said coins, on the movable transport surface, from the coin arrival surface to a coin output position, wherein a discharge gate is provided in the coin guiding arrangement, at the coin arrival surface, for discharging unwanted objects residing thereon, wherein the discharge gate is slidably arranged in the coin guiding arrangement so as to be displaceable, between a closed position and an open position.

Provided is a coin processing apparatus including: a hopper that stores a coin; a taking-in unit that takes in the coin supplied from the hopper; and a hopper moving mechanism that moves the hopper, while maintaining the hopper in a horizontal state, from a position at which the hopper covers the taking-in unit to a position so that the taking-in unit is exposed.

Provided is a coin processing apparatus including: a hopper that stores a coin; a taking-in unit that takes in the coin supplied from the hopper; and a hopper moving mechanism that moves the hopper, while maintaining the hopper in a horizontal state, from a position at which the hopper covers the taking-in unit to a position so that the taking-in unit is exposed.
