Electronic coin having a display
09619065 · 2017-04-11 ·

The present invention is a coin device having a module containing a display screen a power source and a system board providing circuitry to link all of the components of the present invention. The display screen and internal circuitry are protected by an outer shell, which forms a protective casing around the coin. The outer shell may be made of any material, including conventional metals and alloys used in minting. The circuitry may or may not be detachable from the protective casing.

System and method for authorizing transactions using a metallic coin having universally machine readable stored value indicia
09613482 · 2017-04-04 · ·

A system is provided for a metallic coin that may be scanned and implemented for stored value account transactions using traditional point-of-sale devices. The coin has two sides, a first surface portion of the second side having a less reflective matte finish relative to the first side and a second surface portion of the second side. A substantially transparent coat layer is upon the first surface portion of the second side, with an ink layer comprising machine readable indicia further thereupon. The machine readable indicia include a unique identifier with respect to the metallic coin. A hosted server is functionally linked to the traditional point-of-sale device via a communications network and configured upon receiving the identifier as scanned from the point-of-sale device to extract stored value information corresponding to an account associated with the identifier, and transmit said information to the point-of-sale device.

Apparatus for receiving and sorting disks

An apparatus for receiving and sorting disks includes a wheel having at least one well for receiving a disk, a motor coupled to the wheel, a collecting device positioned relative to the wheel, a disk sensor, an ejector, and a controller. The collecting device has at least a first collector and a second collector configured for receiving disks. The disk sensor is configured to detect a value of a parameter of a disk received in the well and generate a parameter value signal. The ejector is coupled to the wheel proximate the well and configured to eject a disk from the well in a plane parallel to a bottom surface of the wheel in response to an eject signal. The controller is operably coupled with the disk sensor and the ejector.
