A cash storage apparatus including a housing which is arranged in a horizontal orientation state where a surface from which a cash storage case is pulled out or pushed out serves as a front surface, or in a vertical orientation state where this front surface serves as an upper surface, an open/close cover which is provided to be positioned on a portion of an upper surface or undersurface of the housing when the housing is in the horizontal orientation state and is opened frontward when the housing is in the vertical orientation state, a lock mechanism which individually locks the cash storage case and the open/close cover, and an open/close mechanism having a rotator which releases locking of the cash storage case by the lock mechanism when rotating in one direction and releases locking of the open/close cover by the lock mechanism when rotating in a reverse direction.

The base is slidably coupled to the vault to transition between a first position and a second position. An electronic cash deposit system includes a processor that receives a user-generated request for a deposit of cash into an account, receive data generated from a scan of a machine-readable image on a receptacle that receives the cash, perform a validation of the deposit of the cash based on a correlation between the data generated from the scan and a transaction key, generate confirmation of the deposit of the cash when the validation is confirmed, and send a notification to a banking system to update the account to reflect the deposit of the cash in response to the confirmation being generated.

A collection apparatus for organizing paper-based transaction items collected at a store checkout comprises a housing including a front section, rear section, left side, right side, top region, and bottom region; and an interior of the housing that is constructed and arranged into three regions. Each region includes a cavity; a removable container positioned in each cavity; three slot-shaped openings in the front section. Each slot-shaped opening is aligned with an opening in a removable container for providing a path for the paper-based transaction items to the removable container. A sensor in each cavity or container senses the paper-based transaction items received via a slot-shaped opening into the container.
