Secure and Anonymized Authentication
20170302641 · 2017-10-19 ·

An embodiment may involve receiving, by a computing system, a message from a wireless service provider system. The computing system may include one or more computing devices located, e.g., in the trusted cloud. The message may contain a service-provider-based identity of a client device, an indication that the service-provider-based identity has been authenticated by the wireless service provider, and a code that the client device obtained from a remote machine proximate to the client device. The computing system may generate an anonymized identity of the client device based on the service-provider-based identity. The computing system may verify that a task associated with the code is within the authorized capabilities of the anonymized identity. Possibly based on the code (and perhaps other information as well), the computing system may transmit an instruction to the remote machine. The instruction may direct the remote machine to perform the task.

Multi-query privacy-preserving parking management system and method

A privacy-preserving multi-query parking management system and method. An image of a vehicle with respect to a specific part (e.g., license plate) can be captured when the vehicle enters via an entry point. An image signature can be computed by embedding the image into a descriptor space and the image signature can be stored in a database together with relevant metadata. An image of a vehicle with respect to the specific part can be captured when the vehicle exits via at least one exit point and an image signature can be computed. An entry-exit association with respect to the vehicle can be performed by searching for a most similar image signature in the database. Additionally, given a textual query (e.g., a license plate number), a signature can be computed by embedding the text into the same descriptor space.

Parking meter communications for remote payment with updated display
11430027 · 2022-08-30 · ·

A parking meter receives data indicative of a remote payment being completed and displays an amount of time purchased by the remote payment for a parking session. The parking meter determines an amount of time remaining in the parking session and powers down at least a portion of a meter communication subsystem subsequent to receiving the data indicative of the remote payment being completed. The parking meter wakes up the powered down portion of the communication subsystem upon determining that the amount of time remaining is below a threshold time, and can receive an indication of additional time being paid for remotely, and can update the displayed time remaining to reflect the additional time.

Parking meter pole

A pole mounting system can be configured as a center drawn mounting system which allows the user to securely mount and adjust the inner stanchion in various rotational orientations about the vertical axis. The system also allows any electrical wiring or other conduit to be run up inside of the pole. Once the inner stanchion is fastened in place, the outer stanchion fits over top with a first disc on the outer stanchion interlocking with a disc recess on the inner stanchion, thereby preventing the outer stanchion from twisting with respect to the inner stanchion. Once a locking bolt is in place, the parking meter is fastened to the top of the outer stanchion. The present system is tamper resistant because the electrical wiring or conduit and the mounting hardware are not externally accessible once installation is completed.

Low-power vehicle detection
09728085 · 2017-08-08 · ·

A parking meter detects an object in proximity, based on a change in a proximity measurement at the meter, activates a directional sensor in response to detecting the object, receives sensor data at a meter processor from the directional sensor, wherein the received sensor data indicates a predetermined direction to the detected object relative to the meter. The parking meter determines a presence of the object, or lack thereof, in the predetermined direction based on the sensor data, and upon a positive determination of the presence of the object, stores an indication of the presence of the object along with a time of the positive determination.
