Pairing A Payment Object Reader With A Point-Of-Sale Terminal
In some examples, a system and method for pairing a payment object reader with a point-of-sale (POS) terminal is described herein. The payment object reader includes one or more light indicators configured to display information in an optical pattern of one or more colors, brightness, lightness, and intensities, wherein the light indicators display a first optical pattern representative of an operational status of the payment object reader in a first mode, and a second optical pattern representative of a pairing code in a second mode. A display control component, executed by a processor, is configured to control the light indicators in accordance with the pairing code to generate the second optical pattern, the second optical pattern when shared with the POS terminal enables pairing between the payment object reader and the POS terminal. When paired, the payment object reader allows the POS terminal to accept payments from a customer.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING DATA AT A MERCHANT DEVICE FROM A USER DEVICE OVER A WIRELESS LINK
A system and method for providing payments is disclosed. A method can include establishing a wireless link between a mobile device and a merchant device. After an instruction is displayed on the mobile device, a combination of a first type of input and a second type of input are received on the mobile device, first type of input including at least one button press of a physical button and the second type of input received from a user to confirm a payment for the purchase. Based on the inputs, payment data is retrieved from a memory of the mobile device. The method includes receiving the payment data at the merchant device to make the purchase, wherein receiving the payment data, via the wireless link, at the merchant device to make the purchase is performed according to a protocol for communicating the payment data to the merchant device.
SELF-CHECKOUT ALERT REDUCTION BASED ON PACKAGING DETECTION
Techniques for self-checkout alert reduction based on packaging detection. A deflection in a first bag reservoir associated with a self-checkout kiosk is determined. The first bag reservoir is positioned adjacent to a packing area and includes a first type of bags. The self-checkout kiosk includes a terminal scale and further includes a platform scale in the packing area. That an empty bag is retrieved from the first bag reservoir is determined based on the deflection in the first bag reservoir. A bag type and a weight range are identified for the empty bag. An allowed weight range of a combination of the empty bag and a desired item is then determined. Presence of the empty bag on the platform scale is prevented from causing a loss prevention alert to be generated when the desired item has been placed in the empty bag on the platform scale.
APPLICATION SELECTOR FOR POINT-OF-SALE DEVICES
A point-of-sale device including an adjustable screen, an accelerometer, and a processor is provided. The adjustable screen is arranged in a cashier position or a customer position. The accelerometer generates orientation data corresponding to the adjustable screen. The processor determines, via an accelerometer driver, an adjustable screen position based on the orientation data. The processor then generates, via the accelerometer driver, a position change notification if the adjustable screen changes position. The processor then provides the position change notification and the adjustable screen position to an application selector. The processor then launches, via the application selector upon receiving the position change notification, an application based on the adjustable screen position. In one example, the launched application is a point-of-sale application if the adjustable screen position is the cashier position. In another example, the launched application is a self-checkout application if the adjustable screen position is the customer position.
System and medium for managing lists using an information storage and communication system
A system includes a processor and an information wallet application stored on machine readable storage media coupled to the processor and including program logic that causes the processor to receive a shopping list from a first information wallet adapter stored on a user computing device, send the shopping list to a second information wallet adapter stored on a merchant computing device, receive merchant data from the second information wallet adapter, wherein the merchant data includes one of price data and quantity data for at least one item included in the shopping list, and send the merchant data to the first information wallet adapter. The system also includes a cloud storage computing system accessible by the information wallet storage application and configured to communicate with the first and second information wallet adapters in order to store and retrieve shopping list data associated with the shopping list.
Goods purchase analysis assist system
A goods purchase analysis assist system is provided that can not only prevent checkouts from being crowded, but also perform settlement at timing convenient for the customer. A goods purchase analysis assist system includes a management server that communicates with a terminal of a customer, and manages purchase of goods in a store by the customer, wherein gates for managing entry and exit of the customer are installed in the store, gates for exit among the gates are configured as a first exit gate through which the customer having performed shopping passes, and a second exit gate through which the customer having not performed shopping passes, and the management server manages entry and exit of the customer passing through the gate.
Frictionless Retail Stores and Cabinets
Various examples of the invention conduct a purchase transaction with a first sensor that senses removal or return of a first item from a first region; a computer vision sensor that senses removal or return of a second item from the first region; a transaction detector that determines an accuracy that the sensed removal or return of the first item by the first sensor and the sensed removal or return of the second item by the computer vision sensor correspond to a single event of removal or return of an item by a consumer and that forwards, to a machine learning tool, information associated with the sensed removal or return of the first item by the first sensor and information associated with the sensed removal or return of the second item by the computer vision sensor when the accuracy is less than an accuracy threshold; the machine learning tool that verifies or corrects the information associated with the sensed removal or return of the first item or the information associated with the sensed removal or return of the second item and provides verified or corrected information to the transaction detector; and an automated billing processor, coupled to the transaction detector, that applies a purchase price of the item against an account of the consumer for the item based on the verified or corrected information, thereby completing the purchase transaction.
Drive-through system, vehicle, and computer readable recording medium
A drive-through system includes: a store terminal including a first processor; a vehicle including a second processor; and a user terminal device including a third processor. The second processor is configured to receive, from each occupant, operation to select a product to be purchased in a drive-through service, generate order information indicating the product selected by the occupant, and output the generated order information to the store terminal device. The first processor is configured to acquire the order information, generate, by using the acquired order information, settlement information for each occupant for performing settlement processing of the product, and output the generated settlement information to the vehicle. The second processor is further configured to acquire the settlement information, and display the settlement information of each occupant. The third processor is configured to execute the settlement processing of the product by using the settlement information of the occupant displayed.
INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM, CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION APPARATUS, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD
According to the present invention, there is provided an information processing system (100) including an acquisition unit (11) that acquires an image, which is generated by a camera, of a face, a selection unit (14) that extracts a person in the acquired image, and selects a person who performs a settlement process based on at least one of a distance from a checkout apparatus, an appearance frequency, and an appearance period of time in a case where a plurality of persons are extracted, an identification unit (12) that identifies the selected person based on the image in which the person is included, and database information in which a feature value of a face is registered, a settlement unit (checkout unit (21)) that performs the settlement process with respect to the identified person.
CHECKOUT SYSTEM AND REGISTRATION DEVICE
A checkout system according to an embodiment includes a plurality of registration devices and a plurality of settlement devices assigned to each of the plurality of registration devices. The registration device generates accounting data for settlement of a transaction, and transmits the accounting data to a transmission destination. The settlement device determines a current status of the settlement device, and transmits the determined current status to the corresponding assigned registration device. The settlement device receives the accounting data from the corresponding assigned registration device and performs a settlement process for settlement of the transaction on a basis of the accounting data. Each registration device displays a list of either the settlement devices assigned to the registration device or the settlement devices assigned to a different registration device. The determined transmission destination is based on the status and priority ranking of the settlement devices that are displayed on the list.
