Stand including dynamic counterweight for auto-balancing of an electronic point-of-sale terminal display
A stand for an electronic point-of-sale terminal can include a moveable arm including a mounting plate at an upper end thereof and a moveable hinge at a lower end thereof, the moveable arm configured to move from a forward cantilevered position to a rearward cantilevered position over a check-out area associated with an electronic point-of-sale terminal, the mounting plate configured to moveably couple the moveable arm to an electronic display of the electronic point-of-sale terminal, the moveable hinge configured to rotate responsive to movement of the moveable arm, a base plate configured to maintain the electronic point-of-sale terminal in an upright position when the electronic display is moved between the forward cantilevered position and the rearward cantilevered position, and a moveable counterweight inside the base plate, and moveably coupled to the moveable hinge, to move from a first counterweight position inside the base plate when the moveable arm is in the forward cantilevered position to a second counterweight position inside the base plate when the moveable arm is in the rearward cantilevered position.
Pairing A Payment Object Reader With A Point-Of-Sale Terminal
In some examples, a system and method for pairing a payment object reader with a point-of-sale (POS) terminal is described herein. The payment object reader includes one or more light indicators configured to display information in an optical pattern of one or more colors, brightness, lightness, and intensities, wherein the light indicators display a first optical pattern representative of an operational status of the payment object reader in a first mode, and a second optical pattern representative of a pairing code in a second mode. A display control component, executed by a processor, is configured to control the light indicators in accordance with the pairing code to generate the second optical pattern, the second optical pattern when shared with the POS terminal enables pairing between the payment object reader and the POS terminal. When paired, the payment object reader allows the POS terminal to accept payments from a customer.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING DATA AT A MERCHANT DEVICE FROM A USER DEVICE OVER A WIRELESS LINK
A system and method for providing payments is disclosed. A method can include establishing a wireless link between a mobile device and a merchant device. After an instruction is displayed on the mobile device, a combination of a first type of input and a second type of input are received on the mobile device, first type of input including at least one button press of a physical button and the second type of input received from a user to confirm a payment for the purchase. Based on the inputs, payment data is retrieved from a memory of the mobile device. The method includes receiving the payment data at the merchant device to make the purchase, wherein receiving the payment data, via the wireless link, at the merchant device to make the purchase is performed according to a protocol for communicating the payment data to the merchant device.
Merchant/customer POS interaction system
Systems and methods for providing merchant/customer interaction include determining that a tablet computer is in a merchant orientation, retrieving merchant product information according to a received instruction and merchant orientation information, and displaying a merchant screen on the tablet computer that includes the merchant product information according to the merchant orientation information. A change in the orientation of the tablet computer enclosure/stand is then detected from the merchant orientation to a customer orientation. In response, the merchant screen is transitioned on the tablet computer display to a customer screen as the tablet computer enclosure/stand changes orientations by moving the merchant screen and the customer screen linearly while in a stacked orientation. The customer screen includes the merchant product information displayed according to customer orientation information such that the merchant product information is displayed differently on the customer screen relative to the merchant screen.
Interactive shopping system and method
An interactive shopping system, or smart cart. The system allows a user to select items in a store and complete a purchase without having to wait in lines or interact with store personnel. The system can have a container for holding products selected by at least one user, a user interface, a scanner in communication with the user interface, a processor in communication with the user interface, and a data storage comprising computer instructions executable by the processor. A user can select products, place them within the container, scan the products, and initiate a payment transaction to complete a purchase.
