AN INFORMATION DISTRUBITION SYSTEM FOR A LOCAL AREA

A system for communicating information to a person in a local area. The system includes a device arranged noticeable by the person and a power source arranged to power the device. The system further includes a relay arranged in-between the power source and the device, and a control unit arranged to generate a control signal in response to an event. The relay is arranged to connect the device to the power source in absence of the control signal, and to temporarily disconnect the device from the power source in response to the control signal generated by the control unit, thereby communicating the information to the person.

A security system can be configured to mount to a power outlet. The security system can include an outwardly facing portion configured to face away from the power outlet and an inwardly facing portion having a first electrical prong and a second electrical prong that protrude into the power outlet to mount the security system to the power outlet. The security system can also include a detection system comprising a camera and a motion detector.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED

A method is disclosed as including sending, to a remote server, information identifying a first location within a building. In response to such sending, data may be received from the remote server. The data may comprise a plurality of unique identifiers, each unique identifier thereof corresponding to a unique radio tag located in a unique location within the building. The data may be used to deliver to a user a first series of audible commands guiding the user within the building toward the first location. For example, a first radio transmission may be received from a first radio tag located within the building. The first radio transmission may communicate a first identifier that is associated within the data to first navigation information. Thus, the first navigation information may be used to guide the user within the building toward the first location.

Emergency Vehicle Audio Synchronization

An example system for a synchronizing audio on emergency vehicles can include a receiver configured to accept a synchronization signal. The example system can also include a processor configured to use the synchronization signal to determine a correct playback time for a message to remain in sync with other emergency vehicles.

Fall Protection Compliance System and Method

A fall protection compliance system includes a connection structure configured for interfacing an anchor structure and a connection sensor associated with the connection structure. The connection sensor includes an accelerometer or a pressure switch, where the connection sensor is configured to monitor continued connection of the connection structure to the anchor structure over a period of time and to output a signal indicating said continued connection.

Speaker with automatic volume control

An example speaker for providing alerts includes: a housing and a cover forming an integrated unit; a microphone configured to sense an ambient noise level; and a processor configured to adjust a volume of the speaker based upon the ambient noise level. A hinge can be positioned between the housing and the cover to allow the cover to be pivoted relative to the housing from a close position to an open position.

Methods and systems for detecting and distributing encoded alert data

A method for detecting and distributing alert data based upon both receiving alert data encoded in a terrestrial television broadcast transmission and receiving an identification of a location of a device includes receiving, by a first device in a plurality of devices in a mesh network, a terrestrial broadcast signal including at least one datacast packet. A second device in the plurality of devices receives a satellite transmission identifying a location of the second device. The method includes confirming, by a notification engine executed by a third device in the plurality of devices in the mesh network, receipt of both the satellite transmission and alert data encoded in the terrestrial broadcast signal. The method includes activating, by the notification engine, at least one alert module in the mesh network, upon confirmation of the receipt of both the satellite transmission and the alert data encoded in the terrestrial broadcast signal.
