Smoke detection method and apparatus
Embodiments of this disclosure provide a smoke detection method and apparatus. The apparatus includes a processor configured to detect foreground blobs in images of a plurality of frames in a video; determine motion areas of detected foreground blobs; determine a first degree of overlapping of the foreground blobs in images of at least two frames, and/or determine a second degree of overlapping of the foreground blobs and motion areas to which the foreground blobs correspond; determine interfering foreground blobs according to the first degree of overlapping and/or the second degree of overlapping; and extract features from motion areas of remaining foreground blobs with the interfering foreground blobs being removed, and detect smoke according to the features. With the embodiments of this disclosure, accuracy of smoke detection may be increased, and false detection resulted from such interfering objects as water blobs, or light spots, etc., may be avoided.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING FIRE AND SMOKE
This invention relates to a method and system for detecting fire and smoke. The system comprises a processor, a memory and instructions stored on the memory and executable by the processor to: receive a sequence of images from a plurality of cameras; sampling the sequence of images at a certain interval; process each of the sampled images to form a first processed image and a second processed image; extract Binary Large Objects (BLOBs) from first processed image and contours of objects from the second processed image; analyse the BLOB for smoke and the contours of objects for fire; and determine smoke in response to analysing smoke from the BLOBs and fire in response to analysing fire from the contours of objects.
METHODS, APPARATUSES, AND SYSTEMS FOR CONFIGURING A FLAME DETECTION APPARATUS USING FLAME DETECTING COMPONENTS
Methods, apparatuses and systems for configuring a flame detection apparatus using flame detecting components are disclosed herein. An example apparatus may comprise: a controller component and at least one flame detecting component in electronic communication with the controller component. The flame detecting component may be configured to detect infrared radiation associated with a fire in an environment and receive and transmit communication signals. In response to detecting a first infrared control (IR) signal, the flame detecting component may provide an indication of the first IR control signal to the controller component.

Wildfire and Public Safety Event Detection Systems and Methods
A fire mitigation and/or public safety event detection device has a housing having a cavity and a plurality of varying sensors coupled within the cavity of the housing, and/or coupled to, or somehow connected or interfaced with the housing. The device and/or system further has a processor configured to determine, based upon outputs from the sensors, whether there is a fire/wildfire event or a public safety event or associated conditions. The processor is further configured to transmit data indicative of the sensors and alerts related to the fire event and/or the public safety event and/or associated conditions to one or more computing device(s) of utility personnel, authorized third parties, and/or first responders. An aggregated deployment of such fire mitigation and public safety event detection devices serves to create a web or network, thereby serving as a watchdog system within the associated deployment area(s).
FIRE DETECTION AND FEATURE EXTRACTION APPARATUS AND METHOD BASED ON DUAL OPTICAL WAVELENGTH
Optical data is collected from an optical sensor of a dual wavelength, and in order to detect the fire from the collected optical data, an average value of a first wavelength, an average value of a second wavelength, and a ratio of the average values of the two wavelengths are calculated, and an amount of change of a slope of the ratio is used to detect the fire and determine the fire occurrence time. From the determined fire occurrence time, fire features are extracted from the optical data in real time according to defined rules to configure a data set. The data set may be used for learning and inference techniques to identify a fire or non-fire, a fire source, a combustion material, and the like.
