Method and apparatus for operating home appliances, the method includes identifying a home appliance in a field view of a camera of an augmented reality (AR) device; generating, based on the home appliance that was identified, a control interface to overlay on a screen of the AR device or to present within an augmented view of a user that carries the AR device; detecting a selection by the user of control options on the control interface; and triggering the home appliance to perform an operation based on the selection.

Personal Proximity Warning Device
20220383727 · 2022-12-01 ·

A personal proximity warning device for warning a user of a rear approach of a person includes a housing that is removably attachable to an item worn by the user. A camera and a sensor attached to the housing capture an image of and sense motion within an area proximate to the user. A battery, a transceiver, and a microprocessor are positioned in the housing. The microprocessor selectively actuates the camera and the transceiver to capture and transmit the image of the area, respectively, and actuates the transceiver to transmit an alert. Programming code, which is selectively positionable on an electronic device of the user, enables the electronic device to receive the alert and the image, to override audio to earbuds being worn by the user, and to broadcast the alert to the user via the earbuds.

Systems and methods for detecting or following a person within an observed area. One example system includes a sensor and a processor configured to: receive, from the sensor, a series of readings indicative of the person in the observed area, wherein the observed area is divided into a plurality of zones; determine a sequential occurrence of each of a plurality of ordered events by applying a detection threshold value to the series of readings, wherein the detection threshold value is lower than a noise threshold of the sensor, and wherein each of the plurality of ordered events is associated with at least one of the plurality of zones; and determine a trigger condition based on the sequential occurrence of each of the plurality of ordered events; and provide an instruction to a fixture based on the trigger condition.

AUTOMATED CORRELATION OF MEDIA DATA TO EVENTS
20220377282 · 2022-11-24 ·

Described herein are techniques that may be used to automatically correlate a portion of a media data to an event. Such techniques may comprise receiving, from one or more data sources, at least one media data associated with a first time and a first location. The techniques may further comprise receiving an indication of an event associated with a second time and a second location and determining whether a geographic proximity between the first location and the second location is within a threshold distance. Upon determining the geographic proximity is within the threshold distance, the techniques may further comprise determining a portion of the at least one media data for which a temporal proximity is within a threshold timeframe, and upon determining the temporal proximity is within the threshold timeframe, creating a correlation between the at least one media data and the event.

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, METHOD FOR PROCESSING EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION, AND PROGRAM
20220375329 · 2022-11-24 · ·

An information processing apparatus, a method for processing an emergency notification, and a program capable of enabling, when an emergency situation for a worker occurs, the worker to accurately recognize a state of issuance of an emergency notification are provided. An information processing apparatus includes a notification transmitting unit configured to transmit an emergency notification when a predetermined condition is satisfied, the emergency notification being a notification for reporting an occurrence of an emergency situation for a worker, and a display control unit configured to perform control so as to display information about the emergency notification on a head-mounted display.

Systems, methods and devices for the rapid assessment and deployment of appropriate modular aid solutions in response to disasters

An embodiment of a disaster response system is disclosed that includes a communication and monitoring environment (CME). The CME includes an incident command infrastructure, and a communication infrastructure configured to exchange data with the incident command infrastructure. The communication infrastructure includes a network comprising a plurality of sensor assemblies that are configured to wirelessly communicate with the communication infrastructure. The sensor assemblies are configured to acquire data that includes at least one of environmental conditions, motion, position, chemical detection, and medical information. One or more of the sensors are configured to aggregate data from a subset of the plurality of sensors. The CME is configured to detect an incident based on at least the data acquired by the sensor assemblies.

Techniques are described for handling duress input. For example, techniques are described for handling duress input provided to a mobile application that controls a monitoring system located at a fixed property.

PORTABLE ALARM SYSTEM
20230053570 · 2023-02-23 ·

A portable alarm system has a base unit including a processor electrically connected to a wireless transceiver configured to communicate wireless signals to an external location. The base unit is further configured to receive wireless alarm signals from at least a first sensor and a second sensor, both of the first and second sensors being physically separated from the base unit. The processor is configured to be selectively programmed by a user to cause the base unit to communicate with a remote monitoring station in response to receiving an alarm signal from the first sensor, but not in response to receiving an alarm signal from the second sensor. Instead, when an alarm signal is received from the second sensor, the processor causes a different action, other than communicating with the monitoring station, to occur. Such action can include, for example, sending a wireless communication to a mobile electronic device.
