SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING EVENT NOTIFICATIONS

Methods and apparatus for providing indications of received emergency alert messages to devices within a consumer premises are disclosed. In one embodiment, a consumer premise equipment (CPE) receiving one or more emergency alert messages from a content provider or managed network determines one or more alert responses for one or more devices of the consumer premise network. In one implementation, the responses are based at least in part on the received emergency alert messages themselves. The CPE issues one or more commands to one or more devices present within the consumer premises (which may be for example a home automation system), to indicate the one or more determined alert indication responses, such as auditory alert and visual alert by the one or more devices. Thus, users in the consumer premises may be made aware of an alert message outside of the typical means in which an alert is displayed, such as via a television.

PROGRAMMABLE SIGNAL GENERATOR AND RADIO CONTROLLER
20190320499 · 2019-10-17 ·

A programmable signal generator and radio controller for providing dispatch paging tone out frequencies to first responders and other selected areas. The signal generator is capable of performing tone-outs to various first responders and being cross compatible with prior and future evolutionary systems. The signal generator uses plain-text console interface and plain-text tone-out parameter definitions allowing programming without special software, apps, or Internet connectivity. The signal generator is capable of controlling operational functions of connected radio transceiver equipment including initiating and terminating RF transmission, selecting radio channel or frequency, and monitoring operational status of the transceiver. The signal generator is also capable of interactive communication with external third-party digital radio dispatch console systems via Ethernet network and TCP/IP protocol via an isolated network interoperability interface that implements a simple Application Program Interface (API).

Seismic event responsive alert and utilities control system and methodology

A method adapted to provide alert signals to individuals or institutions and/or control signals to utilities control units to automatically stop the flow of gas, water, electricity, oil, etc., such signals being delivered in response to the detection of seismic events, the detection occurring via ground-based monitoring systems and/or satellite-based monitoring systems. The alert and/or control signals are distributed through various broadcasting systems or similar channels of communication, such as radio frequency transmitters, Internet service providers, cell phone wireless carriers, satellite phone service providers and/or security monitoring service providers, to individuals and/or facilities through smartphones, landline telephones, tablets, PC's, voice-controlled web communication devices or the like and/or to signal receivers on utilities control units.

EARTHQUAKE EMERGNECY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLES

Methods and apparatus for automotive vehicles respond to earthquake warnings to provide occupant awareness of potential hazards while taking autonomous actions such as slowing the vehicle, navigating to a safe location, and providing safety advice. Data gathered by the vehicle can be sent wirelessly to a remote center for coordinating emergency response using the data. The vehicle preferably comprises a powertrain, a plurality of vehicle accessory systems, and an emergency management controller. The controller is adapted to receive an earthquake warning message. The controller responds to the warning message by providing a power conservation command to at least one accessory system to reduce power consumption by at least one respective noncritical accessory function. In addition, it evaluates a vehicle mobility status and automatically launches a corresponding safety measure.

Methods, systems and apparatus for selectively distributing urgent public information

Embodiments of the invention provide apparatuses, systems and methods for distributing public information. For example, some embodiments of the invention provide methods for determining an appropriate set of addresses to which to distribute an alert. One such exemplary method comprises maintaining a directory of alert gateways. The directory can comprise a plurality of directory entries, and each directory entry can be associated with a particular alert gateway. Each directory entry can also comprise at least one gateway characteristic associated with that alert gateway. In some cases, a gateway characteristic can include information to enable the alert distribution device to determine whether a given alert should be transmitted to the alert gateway.

ALERT SYSTEM AND METHOD

An emergency alert system, method and device are disclosed. The invention employs an emergency alert message, which directs end users to take some particular action like evacuating an identified geographic area. The invention further employs a geographic area message, which is based on a particular geographic area within which all persons should receive the emergency alert message. The invention utilizes an emergency alert enabled device that receives both the emergency alert message and the geographic area message. The emergency alert enabled device determines whether it is located within the geographic area of concern, and if so, presents the emergency alert message to the end user.

Method and system for a power strip with automatic equipment disconnect

A power strip may automatically disconnect a wired connection in response to received weather alert data based on a configuration file including one or more user preference settings. The power strip may include a receiver for a National Weather Service Specific Area Message Encoding system message including an alert type. The power strip may process the message and disconnect a wired connection based on the preference settings. A timer function may also define a time period that the power strip monitors its receiver for weather alert data and automatically disconnects and reconnects the wired connections.

CONTROL DEVICE OF A MEDIA VIEWING DEVICE AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURE BY MEANS OF SUCH A CONTROL DEVICE

A control device (1) of a media-viewing device (2) interacts with a network of media content (3) and/or a communication network (4). The control device (1) allows sending and/or receiving media content, by a notice, a message, an access and/or a telephone call. The control device (1) includes a connection (101) with respect to the media viewing device (2) to start an emergency procedure, based on sending and/or receiving a default media content, compared to a Pre-ordered list (200) of end user devices. An emergency procedure uses the control device (1).

MODULAR WIRELESS MASS EVACUATION NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
20190174417 · 2019-06-06 ·

Monitoring and mass notification systems, such as fire alarm systems, for use in occupied structures, and more particularly to wireless monitoring and mass notification systems include wireless base units that can be modular in design. This allows horns, mini horns, strobes, and audio messaging modules (e.g., speakers) to be physically plugged into the wireless base unit creating a unit with the appearance of a single physical unit. Preferably standardized plugs are used. In some cases, visual and audio modules (i.e., notification devices) have their own battery pack or external power interface. Each wireless base unit can optionally function as a repeater if it has dual transceivers (master transceiver and slave transceiver).

TRANSMITTING DEVICE, TRANSMITTING METHOD, RECEIVING DEVICE, AND RECEIVING METHOD

The present technology relates to a transmitting device, a transmitting method, a receiving device, and a receiving method, which are capable of improving immediacy and flexibility of an alert.

A transmitting device generates transmission data in which an index associated with predetermined process-related information in a relevant table in which process-related information related to an output process of outputting an alert on a receiving side is registered in association with an index is included in data of a physical layer, the relevant table being included in data of a higher layer higher than the physical layer and supplied, and transmits the transmission data. The receiving device obtains a relevant table, receives transmission data, and acquires an index included in data of a physical layer from the transmission data. Then, the receiving device executes an output process corresponding to process-related information associated with the index included in the data of the physical layer in the relevant table. For example, the present technology can be applied in a case where an emergency alert is provided in television broadcasting.
