Method For Creating Maps By Random Processing Of Data Received From Moving Sensors
The application concerns a method for creating maps in an automatic manner using sub-maps created randomly and combined by statistical accumulation. The measurements from information sensors, positioned on mobile platforms, are sent to reception means disposed randomly and independent of each other and transmitting the received information to a random computer processing layer. The random processing layer, creates within same random sub-maps as the information received by the computer network becomes available, the random sub-maps being dispersed arbitrarily in the random processing layer, access pointers being associated with the random sub-maps in order to make it possible to find them. An organising layer, using the access pointers, carries out the statistical recombination of the random sub-maps dispersed in the random processing layer with a view to reconstructing the desired final map or maps. The method according to the application, in one of the applications of same, is particularly useful for the economical and swift creation of complex maps with very large coverage, as required to monitor a country, the resources of same or the economic activity thereof.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR GENERATING FLOW DATA
A method of generating flow data indicative of speeds of travel within a navigable network in an area covered by an electronic map is disclosed. The electronic map comprises a plurality of segments representing navigable elements of the navigable network. Live vehicle probe data is obtained indicative of the average speed of travel for the current time with respect to distance along a link, the link being predetermined by reference to the electronic map. The link is sectioned to provide a plurality of sections along the length thereof. The sectioning is carried out based on the data indicative of the current average speed of time along the link. Where a differential in the current average speed exceeds a threshold, a new section is created. Data is generated indicative of the location of the link together with data indicative of each determined section of the link, the data indicative of each determined section of the link being associated with data indicative of the average speed of travel for the current time for the section. The same process can be repeated using predicted flow data for a future time, but using a more stringent threshold, such that the link is divided into a smaller number of longer sections.
Communication terminal, movement guidance system, and non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing computer program
Movement guidance information for performing traveling guidance for a vehicle is requested to a guidance information delivering server device based on an area update table and an area identification table for managing an update state of map information in a communication terminal, and traveling guidance for the vehicle is performed based on the movement guidance information delivered from the guidance information delivering server device in response to the request.
MULTI-PHASE LABEL PLACEMENT PROCESS FOR RENDERING MAP TILES
A mapping system prevents mismatching placement of map labels between adjacent map tiles for rendering digital maps. In particular, the mapping system performs a label placement process that considers labels of a map tile shared with adjacent map tiles in order to prevent labels that intersect the map tile and the adjacent map tiles having mismatching placements. During the label placement process, the mapping system performs a first placement phase to place shared labels of a map tile according to label placement constraints. Based on the first phase, the mapping system identifies intersecting labels that can be successfully placed. Using the successfully placed intersecting labels, the mapping system performs a second label placement phase. In particular, the mapping system first places the successfully placed set of intersecting labels, and subsequently places non-intersecting labels for the map tile according to the label placement constraints.
Location-based application recommendations
A method to share map information between an electronic device and other nearby devices using peer-to-peer communication is provided. The method receives identification of different map items such as a route, points of interest, search results, a current map view and sends to a selected nearby device. The method provides different options to select the map items to share. The particular map information to share in some embodiments depends on what is currently displayed and/or selected on the map. When there are several items that can be shared and there is not a clear indication for what the user intends to share, an action list is shown to allow the user to select the information to share. Once a map item to share is selected, the method displays a share list to display a list of nearby devices. The method sends the shared information to selected devices.

Alignment of standard-definition and high-defintion maps
Aspects of the disclosed invention relate to alignment of standard definition (SD) maps and high definition (HD maps) which may come from different sources. Responsive to input of a destination, a route to that destination may be defined, and SD map waypoints generated from that defined route. A graph may be generated from the HD map. The waypoints may be matched with nodes and edges in the graph. One or more edges may constitute a segment in the HD map. A plurality of segments are identified to match the route.
