A haircare appliance is described having first and second arms that define a hair treatment chamber, an emitter configured to emit radiation into the hair treatment chamber, and an airflow generator configured to generate an airflow within the hair treatment chamber. The emitter includes an incandescent source of radiation.

A rechargeable hair styling tool may be plugged into an electrical outlet to enable charging of each battery and operation of the hair styling tool. Electronics of the hair styling tool may enable it to alternately operate under power from the battery or batteries (i.e., stored power) while the hair styling tool is unplugged from an electrical outlet (e.g., a wall socket, etc.) and under power of an external source of electricity while the hair styling tool is plugged into the electrical outlet. A hair styling apparatus with a plurality of modes for styling hair in a variety of fashions. The hair styling apparatus as at least two elongate components pivotally movable about a joint between an extended and closed position. Each elongate component having a styling part and a handle. The apparatus further has a clamp movably couplable to either elongate component, a temperature control means, and a power means. The hair styling apparatus is thereby portable and multifunctional.

A hair iron includes a first elongated bar and a second elongated bar. The first elongated bar includes a first iron portion, a first fulcrum portion and a first grip portion, wherein the first iron portion includes a first heating pad where hair is to be ironed, and the first iron portion and the first grip portion are connected to and disposed at opposite sides of the first fulcrum portion. The second elongated bar engages with and is pivotally rotatable relative to the first elongated bar, and includes a second iron portion, a second fulcrum portion and a second grip portion, wherein the second iron portion includes a second heating pad that cooperates with the first heating pad to iron hair, and the second iron portion and the second grip portion are connected to and disposed at opposite sides of the second fulcrum portion. A first bending angle exists between the first iron portion and the first fulcrum portion, and a second bending angle exists between the second iron portion and the second fulcrum portion.

An auto-rotate flat iron assembly that can be turned into a curling iron by a simple press of a button. It automates the rotation of the clamped strands of hair in order to create different curl styles. The hair iron assembly creates curls in hair by adjustably applying heat, clamping around hair strands, and automating rotation of the tongs in either direction, so as to achieve the desired wave or curl in hair. A stop member restricts rotation to 180. A power button powers on and off a motor. A rotate button rotates the tongs in both directions 180 and up to or greater than 360. A heat button incrementally increases and decreases heat in tongs. A tong lever controls opening and closing of tongs around hair strands. Different hair curl styles are achieved by changing heat temperature and/or speed of pulling down the iron after the rotation is complete.

Apparatus for manipulating the shape of hair using dielectric heating is provided. Typically, the apparatus comprises opposing first and second electrodes respectively provided on first and second arms that are movable towards and away from one another; and drive circuitry for supplying electrical energy to the first and second electrodes, to cause an alternating electric field to be produced in the vicinity of the electrodes in use, and thereby cause dielectric heating of hair placed between the electrodes in use. Sensing circuitry may also be provided for sensing a change in coupling of energy from the alternating electric field to the hair during heating of the hair; and control circuitry for controlling the drive circuitry to vary the electrical energy supplied to the first and second electrodes in dependence upon the sensed change in coupling. A related method of manipulating the shape of hair using dielectric heating is also provided.

Typically,the apparatus includes opposing first and second electrodes respectively provided on first and second arms that are movable towards and away from one another. Drive circuitry supplies electrical energy to the first and second electrodes, to cause an alternating electric field to be produced in the vicinity of the electrodes in use, and thereby cause dielectric heating of hair placed between the electrodes in use. Sensing circuitry senses a change in coupling of energy from the alternating electric field to the hair during heating of the hair. Control circuitry controls the drive circuitry to vary the electrical energy supplied to the first and second electrodes in dependence upon the sensed change in coupling. A related method manipulates the shape of hair using dielectric heating.
