An active-matrix display with passive-matrix pixel clusters includes pixel clusters each having a cluster controller and a display controller operable to provide pixel data to the cluster controllers. Each pixel cluster includes pixels disposed in an array of N rows (N>=2) and M columns (M>=1), (N+1) memory banks, and a cluster controller operable to control the pixels and memory banks. Each memory bank is operable to store pixel data for a row of pixels. The cluster controller is operable to input pixel data for a row of pixels and store the pixel data in an input memory bank of the (N+1) memory banks and output stored pixel data from one or more output memory banks of the (N+1) memory banks that are not the input memory bank to control corresponding one or more rows of pixels.

A source driver and a driving system for driving an LED panel, and an LED display system are provided. The driving system includes: a plurality of source drivers, for respectively supplying driving currents to channels of different portions on the LED panel, and each source driver includes: a plurality of driving circuits, which are in one-to-one correspondence with the plurality of channels on the LED panel, and are connected to a same current control line, each driving circuit being configured to supply a driving current to a corresponding channel, wherein, the supplied driving current is associated with a voltage on the current control line which the driving circuit is connected with. When one or more driving circuits switch between a non-driving state and a driving state, the driving current being supplied by the driving circuit(s) being in the driving state in the plurality of source drivers is compensated.

Micro-light-emitting diode display panel

A micro-light-emitting diode (microLED) display panel includes a display area divided into a plurality of blocks; a plurality of drivers that drive microLEDs of the blocks respectively; and at least one timing controller that controls the drivers. In each block, anodes of microLEDs in a same row are connected to a corresponding data line, and cathodes of microLEDs in a same column are connected to a corresponding common line.

Local Passive Matrix Displays

A display may be formed by an array of light-emitting diodes mounted to the surface of a display substrate. The light-emitting diodes may be inorganic light-emitting diodes formed from separate crystalline semiconductor structures. An array of pixel control circuits may be used to control light emission from the light-emitting diodes. Each pixel control circuit may be configured to control one or more respective passive matrices. To control partial pixel cells in the display, a donor pixel control circuit in a partial pixel cell may control the pixels in a receptor partial pixel cell without a pixel control circuit. To mitigate the size of an inactive area of the display, fanout signal lines for the display may be formed in the light-emitting active area of the display. The fanout signal lines may be formed between a row of pixel control circuits and a bottom edge of the light-emitting active area.

Driving circuit and related driving method

A driving circuit for a display panel and including a receiving interface, a timing controller, a pulse width modulation controller and a line latch is disclosed. The receiving interface is configured to receive a first input signal, a second input signal and a link signal to generate a plurality of display data accordingly, wherein the first input signal and the second input signal are a pair of differential signals. The timing controller is configured to interpret the first input signal, the second input signal and the link signal to generate a trigger signal. The pulse width modulation controller is configured to perform pulse width modulation to generate a first output signal and a second output signal. The line latch is configured to hold the first and second output signals, and output the first and second output signals according to the trigger signal to drive the display panel.

Light-emitting diode driving apparatus and light-emitting diode driver

A LED driving apparatus with clock embedded cascaded LED drivers is introduced, including: a plurality of LED drivers, wherein the first stage LED driver receives an original data signal and outputs a first data signal, the Nth stage LED driver receives a (N−1)th data signal and outputs a Nth data signal. The Nth stage LED driver includes a clock data recovery circuit generating a recovery clock signal and a recovery data signal according to the (N−1)th data signal; and a first transmitter outputting the Nth data signal according to the recovery clock signal and the recovery data signal.

Display device

A display device includes: light-emitting elements in a backlight divided into a plurality of areas, the light-emitting elements being arranged in such a manner as to correspond to the plurality of areas; and a drive unit configured to drive the light-emitting elements in the plurality of areas by time division based on an input image every prescribed period of time, the drive unit turning on all the light-emitting elements in the plurality of areas in a partial period of the prescribed period of time and driving those light-emitting elements in at least one of the plurality of areas based on the input image in a remaining period of the prescribed period of time.
