The present invention is applicable to, for example, a display apparatus such as a television receiver.

The second calculation unit calculates final tristimulus values for each of the three primary colors using the adjusted tristimulus values and target tristimulus values for each of the three primary colors. The color gamut calculation unit calculates a corrected color gamut from the final tristimulus values. The light sensing unit may further measure tristimulus values of the external light for each of the three primary colors.

A method, of reducing display device energy consumption, including: (a) determining lighting conditions ambient to a display device; (b) determining content that a user chooses to view on the display device; (c) calculating the user's perception of display quality using an image appearance model; and (d) adjusting, when the perceived display quality is higher than a target display quality, display device conditions so that the perceived display quality matches the target display quality so as to reduce energy consumption. An apparatus utilizing the method so as to reduce energy consumption while providing an aesthetically pleasing viewing experience to a user.

An auto focus method comprises: acquiring information on eyesight status of a user; acquiring information on posture of the user; calculating expected focal length of the liquid crystal between the two light-transmissive conductive films at the position of at least one pixel according to the acquired user information; selecting a voltage to be applied between the two light-transmissive conductive films at the position according to the expected focal length; and applying the voltage between the two light-transmissive conductive films at the position.

The electronic device obtains an image of the user captured by a camera of the electronic device when the user views the images presented by the electronic device.
