A method for identifying a display current includes: acquiring grayscales of pixels in a to-be-displayed image, where the grayscale of each pixel includes grayscales of a plurality of color channels; calculating an average grayscale of a same color channel of all pixels in the to-be-displayed image; identifying a current value of each color channel and a current offset value of each color channel according to the average grayscale of each color channel, where the current offset value represents a difference between a display current value of a nonmonochromatic image and a display current sum of monochromatic images corresponding to the nonmonochromatic image; and calculating a display current of the to-be-displayed image based on the current value and the current offset value of each color channel.

The display panel applies a first data voltage to the target pixel, when the observation grayscale values for the observation pixels exceed a reference value. The display panel applies a second data voltage to the target pixel, when at least one of the observation grayscale values does not exceed the reference value. The first data voltage and the second data voltage are different from each other.

Provided is a display brightness compensation method including: setting an aging grayscale of a monochrome pixel of each of n test display panels; setting m test grayscales of the monochrome pixel; during a time period, illuminating the aging grayscale of the monochrome pixel, periodically illuminating each test grayscale of the monochrome pixel, and periodically obtaining a test display brightness of the monochrome pixel at the test grayscale at the aging grayscale; calculating a brightness-time characteristic of the monochrome pixel at each of the m test grayscales at the aging grayscale; and compensating an actual display brightness of a monochrome pixel of a target display panel at a current display moment based on the brightness-time characteristic. Both m and n are positive integers greater than or equal to 2. The monochrome pixels of any two test display panels have different aging grayscales.

Color management of display device

MicroLED arrays offer a small form factor solution for the HMD image sources since they do not need a separate illumination optics. Features of the present disclosure implement a MicroLED display system that incorporate a plurality of monochrome projectors (e.g., three MicroLED projectors) to generate three monochrome images (e.g., red, blue, and green images) that are separately input into a single waveguide of the HMD and combined to form an image that is displayed to the user. By utilizing a single waveguide that includes a plurality of spatially separated input regions (e.g., a region for inputting blue light, a region for inputting red light, a region for inputting green light), the MicroLED display system of the present disclosure may reduce the form factor of the HMD device because of the reduced number of plates that may be required to combine the three monochrome images.

Method and apparatus of grayscale image generation in monochrome display

A method is provided that allows the use of monochrome PMOLED display driver to generate grayscale patterns without the need to change the resolution of the 1-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) on the data line (SEG). The method further allows the elimination of extra frame buffer display memory needed by conventional techniques. This is achieved by swapping display memory space for display image pixel color (grayscale) depth in the expense of display resolution. The method further allows grayscale pattern data to be written into frame buffer only once without additional control from the host controller. The method further allows the dynamic application of grayscale on selectable whole or portion of a scan line such that full grayscale image display or a mixture of monochrome and grayscale image display in a single display panel is possible.

Further, the apparatus may perform a color space conversion on the content associated with the data for each of the plurality of frames, the color space conversion adding at least one chrominance plane to the content. The apparatus may also display, upon performing the color space conversion, the content associated with the data for each of the plurality of frames.
