This disclosure describes efficient communication of surface texture data between system on a chip (SOC) integrated circuits. An example system includes a first integrated circuit and a second integrated circuit communicatively coupled to the first integrated circuit by a video communication interface. The first integrated generates a superframe in a video frame of the video communication interface for transmission to the second integrated circuit. The superframe includes multiple subframe payloads that carry surface texture data to be updated in the frame and corresponding subframe headers that include parameters of the subframe payloads. The second integrated circuit includes a direct access memory (DMA) controller. The DMA upon receipt of the superframe, writes the surface texture data within each of the subframe payloads directly to an allocated location in memory based on the parameters included in the corresponding one of the subframe headers.

For example, a typeface design application provides a design interface for modifying a design of an input character from a typeface. The typeface design application accesses a machine-learning model that is trained, using multiple training typefaces, to recognize the input character as a reference character. The typeface design application receives, via the design interface, an input modifying the design of the input character. The typeface design application determines that the machine-learning model cannot match the reference character to the input character having a modified design. The typeface design application outputs, via the design interface, an indicator that the input character having the modified design is not recognized as the reference character.

Embodiments of the subject matter described herein relate to a wireless programmable media processing system. In the media processing system, a processing unit in a computing device generates a frame to be displayed based on a graphics content for an application running on the computing device. The frame to be displayed is then divided into a plurality of block groups which are compressed. The plurality of compressed block groups are sent to a graphics display device over a wireless link. In this manner, both the generation and the compression of the frame to be displayed may be completed at the same processing unit in the computing device, which avoids data copying and simplifies processing operations. Thereby, the data processing speed and efficiency is improved significantly.
