Data compensation device and display device including the same
A display device and a data compensating device for a display device are disclosed. In one aspect, the data compensating device includes a converter configured to convert image data corresponding to a plurality of pixels in a display panel into input grayscale data and provide the input grayscale data. A brightness ratio calculator is configured to calculate a brightness ratio of the input grayscale data for each pixel based on a predetermined gamma value and a maximum grayscale data. The data compensating device also includes a compensating coefficient output unit configured to output a predetermined compensating coefficient based on the brightness ratio, and a compensating data calculator configured to calculate compensating grayscale data corresponding to all of the grayscale data based on the compensating coefficient. A data output unit is configured to provide the compensating grayscale data corresponding to the input grayscale data as output grayscale data to the pixels.
LARGER BACKPLANE SUITABLE FOR HIGH SPEED APPLICATIONS
A display system comprising a plurality of display controller circuits controlling a like number of independent segments of pixel drive circuits of a backplane. Each pixel drive circuit comprises a memory element and associated pixel drive circuitry. The segments of the backplane may be organized vertically. The word line for the memory cells of a first segment of pixel drive circuits passes underneath a second segment of pixel drive circuits without directly interacting with the pixel drive circuits of the second segment in order to reach the pixel drive circuits of the first segment. The plurality of display controller circuits operate asynchronously but are kept at the same frame rate by an external signal such as Vsync.
Optimized display image rendering
In one example, a head mounted display system includes at least one memory; and at least one processor to execute instructions to: detect a first position and a first view direction of a head of a user based on sensor data generated by at least one of an accelerometer, at least one camera, or a gyroscope at a first point in time; determine a latency associated with a time to cause an image to be presented on the display; determine a predicted position and a predicted view direction of the head of the user at a second point in time based on the latency; render, prior to the second point in time, the image for presentation on the display based on the predicted position and the predicted view direction of the head of the user; and cause the display to present the rendered image.
DISPLAY SYSTEM, DISPLAY DEVICE, ELECTRONIC APPARATUS, AND IMAGE SIGNAL TRANSMISSION METHOD
A display system that can solve the problem of an inadequate band in a connector or transmission path and that enables processing of a high-resolution image signal, includes a display device and an electronic apparatus that is electrically connected to the display device via a connector. The electronic apparatus receives or generates an original image signal indicating an original image that is to be displayed and supplies a plurality of divided image signals each indicating a respective image of a plurality of partial images into which the original image has been divided. The display device displays the original image on the basis of a combined image signal into which the plurality of partial image signals supplied from the electronic apparatus have been combined.
ENCODING AND DECODING ARRAYS OF DATA ELEMENTS
A method of encoding a block of an array of data elements comprises selectively writing out an encoded version of the block either that is encoded using a first encoding scheme, which provides encoded blocks of non-fixed data size, or that is encoded using a second encoding scheme, which provides encoded blocks of fixed data size. The selection of which version of the encoded block to write out is based on the size of the encoded block when encoded using the first encoding scheme. This provides the potential for the encoded block that is written out to be compressed in a more superior manner using the first encoding scheme where possible, whilst also providing an encoded block that has a predictable maximum compressed size.
Controlling Display Performance
Embodiments described herein provide for a display system to generate and display data on a display device, the display system comprising one or more graphics processors to generate one or more frames of data for display on the display device; display logic to receive a request to display the one or more frames of data, the request including a requested presentation time in which the one or more frames of data are to be displayed; and a display engine to present the one or more frames of data to the display device for display at a target presentation time, the target presentation time derived from the requested presentation time, wherein the display engine is to adjust a refresh rate of the display device based on the target presentation time of the one or more frames of data.
Controlling Display Performance Using Animation Based Refresh Rates
Embodiments provide for a method of generating and displaying data on a display device, the method comprising receiving an input to interact with an image presented via the display; generating a sequence of frames having an animation frame rate independent of a current refresh rate of the display device; presenting configuration data to the display engine at a display time based on the requested presentation time; and dynamically refreshing the display device based on the display time to display the sequence of frames.
DISPLAY SYSTEM WITH GLOBAL EMISSION AND METHOD FOR LUMINANCE CONTROL THEREOF
A display system is provided that comprises a display panel having a plurality of pixel arrangement. Each pixel arrangement comprises at least one light emitting unit, at least one driver circuit operably coupled to the light emitting unit, and at least one digital counter operably coupled to the driver circuit. In this regard, the digital counter is configured to store a data value to be counted and to toggle a state of the driver circuit upon expiry, thereby toggling a state of the light emitting unit to perform luminance control of the pixel arrangement.
Memory control device, mobile terminal, and computer-readable recording medium for controlling writing and reading of data to frame memory
A memory control device of the present invention comprises a reset control section (32) for (i) suspending, at a time point where rp overtakes wp or wp overtakes rp or a time point immediately before that time point, a reading operation of data, and (ii) conducting again, at a predetermined time point where reading is to be resumed, the reading operation of the data from a position at which the reading operation has been started in a frame memory (31).
Display method of display device
A display method includes steps of: receiving, by the controller, a first frame and a second frame from an input data; up-converting, by the controller, a frame rate of the input data to produce a third frame based on the first frame and the second frame; identifying, by the controller, a static image content of the third frame according to a comparison of the first frame and the second frame; controlling, by the controller, the driver circuit not to update data of pixels within a static display area of the display panel corresponding to the static image content during the period of time that the third frame is displayed by the display panel.
