The air and aerosol paths can be at least partially positioned in a space between the tank and the battery. The outer housing may comprise a heat end and a substrate end, wherein at least one of the ends of the outer housing includes at least one opening, and wherein the cartridge is configured to be removable and replaceable within the holder.
