A method of correcting input image data for a display device can include receiving input image data by a controller in the display device, a first portion of the input image data corresponding to a first region of a display panel in the display device and a second portion of the input image data corresponding to a second region of the display panel having a pixel density different than a pixel density of the first region; and correcting, by the controller, at least some of the input image data to generate corrected image data based on at least one white correction value or at least one monochromatic correction value.

The driving circuit unit includes a thermistor having a resistance value which changes according to a temperature of the substrate and a register group in which set values of a dimming ratio corresponding to the temperature are stored, the driving circuit unit controls the pixels to emit light with a first luminance based on the dimming ratio when the temperature based on the resistance value is less than a minimum temperature, the driving circuit unit controls the pixels to emit light with a second luminance based on the dimming ratio when the temperature is greater than the minimum temperature and less than a maximum temperature, and the driving circuit unit stops image display of the pixels when the temperature is greater than the maximum temperature.

A light emitting display device includes a display panel including RGBW sub-pixels; a driver configured to drive the display panel; and a timing controller configured to control the driver, wherein W peak luminance derived by the W sub-pixels is higher than a sum of RGB peak luminances derived by the RGB sub-pixels when the display panel displays an image.

Provided is a display panel, a source driver that generates a gradation voltage signal based on an image data signal, a timing controller that supplies the image data signal to the source driver, and an illumination drive unit that controls an amount of light of a backlight that illuminates each of a plurality of areas formed by dividing a display screen in the display panel. The source driver or the timing controller calculates feature values of the image data signal corresponding to each of the plurality of areas of the display panel and supplies a dimming data signal representing the amount of light of the backlight according to the feature values of each area to the illumination drive unit. The illumination drive unit controls the amount of light of the backlight for each of the plurality of areas based on the dimming data signal.

A method of driving a display panel includes dividing an input image into a plurality of segments, generating a flicker value of a segment of the plurality of segments, determining whether to compensate the flicker value of the segment or not according to a segment size, compensating the flicker value of the segment based on the segment size, determining a frame rate of the display panel based on the flicker value of the segment and outputting a data voltage to the display panel in the frame rate. The flicker value of the segment is compensated based on the flicker value of the segment and flicker values of segments that are adjacent to the segment.
