The present invention is a rosin spreader that includes a body, a plurality of substantially parallel, spaced apart, elongated first teeth, a plurality of bristles, and an elongated first sidewall. The body has a top surface, a bottom surface, and a peripheral edge. The first teeth extend outwardly from the top surface of the body. The bristles extend outwardly from the top surface of the body. The first sidewall extends upwardly from the top surface of the body. The first teeth, the bristles, and the first sidewall are secured to the top surface of the body.

The drum key comprises a magnet located inside the slot defined by the third body and/or a magnet located inside the slot defined by the first, second, and third body.

A bow for a stringed musical instrument comprises resilient strips of bamboo, wood, or other wood-like materials, bonded together to form laminated layers. The principal layers are a central core layer, a top layer bonded to a top side of the core layer and a bottom layer bonded to a bottom side of the core layer. Each layer consists of one or more strips. The layers extend longitudinally along the shaft and are oriented perpendicularly to a plane that runs through a central axis of the shaft and a central axis of the hair of the bow. The top layer and the bottom layer preferably each comprise at least one strip of bamboo. The bamboo layers can produce the desired physical and playing characteristics that resemble those made with traditional exotic wood materials. It is beneficial to use bamboo as it is an organic, biodegradable, inexpensive and readily available material.

A bow for a stringed musical instrument comprises resilient strips of bamboo, wood, or other wood-like materials, bonded together to form laminated layers. The principal layers are a central core layer, a top layer bonded to a top side of the core layer and a bottom layer bonded to a bottom side of the core layer. Each layer consists of one or more strips. The layers extend longitudinally along the shaft and are oriented perpendicularly to a plane that runs through a central axis of the shaft and a central axis of the hair of the bow. The top layer and the bottom layer preferably each comprise at least one strip of bamboo. The bamboo layers can produce the desired physical and playing characteristics that resemble those made with traditional exotic wood materials. It is beneficial to use bamboo as it is an organic, biodegradable, inexpensive and readily available material.

A bow includes a stick, a tip formed at one end of the stick, a frog including a projection that has an eyelet and that is received in a mortise of the stick, a hair ribbon held between the tip and the frog, a screw inserted into the stick in a longitudinal direction of the stick and extending through the eyelet, and a tonal enhancer. The screw is rotatable to cause the frog to move relative to the tip in the longitudinal direction. The tonal enhancer is made of a material having Young's modulus less than 3.5 GPa and is sandwiched between the stick and the screw.

A system is described for an enhanced bow piece of a stringed musical instrument. The enhancement includes a visual display element attached to the bow. The appearance of the display changes in response to bow motion, bow position, and one or more user-supplied inputs (e.g. buttons). The system can be entirely self-contained and used as a normal instrument bow, providing a light-up/responsive effect while the user plays their instrument in an otherwise normal way. There is some capability for multiple self-contained units to be locally synchronized, providing group-based visualizations. Alternatively, these devices can be monitored and controlled by an external control system.

A bow hair material for a bow hair of a bow of a bowed string instrument. The bow hair material includes threads constructed from poly phenylene sulfide resin. The bow material may be formed into a hair bundle that includes a plurality of threads that are substantially parallel with each other. A mounting portion may be formed by welding an end portion of the hair bundle that mounts the hair bundle on a frog or stick of the bow.
