SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CAPTURING AND INTERPRETING AUDIO
20220199059 · 2022-06-23 ·

A device is provided for capturing vibrations produced by an object such as a musical instrument such as a drum head of a drum kit. The device comprises a detectable element, such as a ferromagnetic element, such as a metal shim and a sensor spaced apart from and located relative to the musical instrument. The detectable element is located between the sensor and the musical instrument. When the musical instrument vibrates, the sensor remains stationary and the detectable element is vibrated relative to the sensor by the musical instrument.

Acoustic valve porting element

An acoustic variable porting system includes an acoustic element and an acoustic variable porting element forming a port into the acoustic element. The acoustic variable porting element is adjustable between at least an open position, in which the port is generally open, and a closed position, in which the port is generally closed. The acoustic element may be at least one of: a sub-kick, a ported drum, and a speaker.

The present invention is a noise maker comprising: a body comprising: an upper chamber, a lower chamber connected to the upper chamber, a handle connected to the lower chamber, a base connected to the handle; a cover, wherein the cover securely fits around the upper chamber; a first set of noise making elements contained with the upper chamber; and a second set of noise making elements contained within the lower chamber.

Isolation Mount for a Percussion Instrument

A percussion instrument is adapted with a foam arrangement directly or indirectly in communication with its percussion surface. The foam arrangement reduces acoustic impact sounds when the instrument is struck, helps isolate vibrations from nearby percussion surfaces, and reduces or removes sound generation when air is released from the damper. To achieve these results, directly or indirectly secured to the percussion surface is an open-cell foam layer that is configured with a closed-cell foam layer positioned in a lateral side-by-side arrangement to create a spring and damper system. The open-cell foam may have one or more holes that extend entirely through its body, and inside those, one or more holes are closed-cell foam to provide additional spring-like functionality. The side-by-side dual-layer arrangement enables the closed-and open-cell foam layers to operate in tandem—the closed-cell layer operates as a spring, and the open-cell layer operates as a damper.

STAND FOR MUSICAL INSTRUMENT, AND HIGH-HAT STAND

Provided is a stand for a musical instrument, the stand including a pole in the shape of a stick extending in one direction, and a plurality of legs extending from the pole and arranged in a circumferential direction of the pole. At least one of the plurality of legs is a rotatable leg attached to the pole so as to be capable of rotating about a central axis of the pole. At least one of the plurality of legs is an offset leg held by the pole such that a longitudinal axis of the offset leg is apart from the central axis of the pole without crossing the central axis when viewed in an axial direction of the pole.

Bass drum spur system

A bass drum spur system has a pivot assembly and a spur leg assembly. The pivot assembly has a spur hub removably attachable to a rim of a drum and a hub cover attached to the spur hub. The hub cover has a passageway and a circumferential slot formed through a sidewall of the passageway. The circumferential slot has first and second notches at respective opposite ends of the slot. A release button is axially slidable within the passageway of the hub cover and a spring is disposed in the passageway and biases the release button in a direction away from the spur hub. The spur leg assembly has a post fixedly attached to the release button for movement therewith, wherein the post is movable between engagement with the first notch and the second notch by pressing the release button in a direction toward the spur hub and rotating the post along the circumferential slot.

A percussion instrument mount includes a base that supports a percussion instrument in a playing position. The percussion instrument mount also includes a swing arm that is coupled to the percussion instrument, and is also coupled to the base via a joint such that the swing arm rotates about the joint from an equilibrium position in response to a playing impact on the percussion instrument. The percussion instrument mount still further includes a playing impact energy absorber that provides a restoring force to the swing arm so as to return the swing arm to the equilibrium position.
