Moving cartridges within a shuttle complex
The present description is directed to moving a cartridge including a storage medium within a shuttle complex that includes numerous shuttle connections, and a plurality of library strings connected by at least one shuttle connection. Each shuttle connection has a car able to move within the shuttle connection and each library string has at least one cartridge including a storage medium. The shuttle complex identifies a library string that contains the access-cartridge (LSAC), identifies whether there is a drive within the LSAC that has a second cartridge mounted therein which comprises only inactive data chunks, removes the second cartridge from the drive within the LSAC if an elapsed time since the drive within the LSAC most recently accessed the second cartridge exceeds a predetermined time period threshold, and mounts the access-cartridge to the drive within the LSAC.
Mechanical retention and retrieval for tape storage cartridge
A tape library rack includes partitions defining a slot for receiving a tape cartridge. A hook is coupled with the rack to engage a notch in the cartridge and retain the cartridge within the rack slot. A gripper for retrieving the cartridge includes a ramped surface to engage the hook and laterally displace the hook from the cartridge notch as the hook travels along the ramped surface. The gripper engages the notch from which the hook has been displaced and pulls the cartridge from the slot.
Magnetic tape device and magnetic reproducing method employing TMR head and magnetic tape having characterized magnetic layer
The magnetic tape device includes: a magnetic tape; and a reproducing head, in which the reproducing head is a TMR head, the magnetic tape includes a non-magnetic support, and a magnetic layer including ferromagnetic powder, a binding agent, and fatty acid ester on the non-magnetic support, a full width at half maximum of spacing distribution measured by optical interferometry regarding a surface of the magnetic layer before performing a vacuum heating with respect to the magnetic tape is greater than 0 nm and equal to or smaller than 7.0 nm, a full width at half maximum of spacing distribution measured after performing the vacuum heating is greater than 0 nm and equal to or smaller than 7.0 nm, and a difference between a spacing measured by optical interferometry regarding the surface of the magnetic layer after performing the vacuum heating with respect to the magnetic tape and a spacing measured before performing the vacuum heating is greater than 0 nm and equal to or smaller than 9.0 nm.
Swapping tape cartridges in tape libraries
A method for swapping out tape cartridges in tape libraries is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes maintaining, in a tape library, old tape cartridges backing up data in a primary storage system. The method adds, to the tape library, new tape cartridges to replace the old tape cartridges. The method then initiates a data transfer process to move active data to the new tape cartridges. This data transfer process first moves active data in less frequently accessed storage elements, followed by active data in more frequently accessed storage elements. During the data transfer process, the method backs up updates to data in the primary storage system to the new tape cartridges. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

Opening-closing member detecting device and image forming apparatus
The device of the present invention includes a frame that supports a switch and a link provided between an opening-closing member and the switch. The link has a first fulcrum forming portion supported at a first support portion of the frame to form a first fulcrum, a power-point portion pushed by the opening-closing member, a second fulcrum forming portion supported at a second support portion of the frame to form a second fulcrum, and a switch operation portion that presses the switch. The first fulcrum forming portion is separable with respect to the first support member. An urging member for urging the link is provided, with the urging member urging the first fulcrum forming portion toward the first support portion.

CHECK CASSETTE, MEASUREMENT DEVICE, SYSTEM FOR COMPENSATING FOR LIGHT INTENSITY OF LIGHT SOURCE FOR MEASUREMENT DEVICE, METHOD FOR COMPENSATING FOR LIGHT INTENSITY OF LIGHT SOURCE FOR MEASUREMENT DEVICE, AND RECORDING MEDIUM
A check cassette according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is a cassette which is used in a measurement device which allows an analyte of a biopsy sample to be measured on the basis of reaction properties of light irradiated from a light source including at least one of reflection, absorption, and transmission of the light (the measurement device provides an inner space into which a measurement cassette, in which the biopsy sample and at least one reagent react with each other, is inserted, and after the measurement cassette is inserted into the inner space, the analyte of the biopsy sample is measured on the basis of pieces of reaction property information of the light irradiated from the light source regarding a substance that results from the reaction between the biopsy sample and the at least one reagent) so that a change in light intensity of the light source in accordance with use of the measurement device is compensated for.
