Disc gripper for storage disc

An apparatus includes a first jaw device, a second jaw device, and a disc sensor configured to sense presence of a storage disc between the first jaw device and the second jaw device. The first jaw device and the second jaw device form a gripper device configured to clamp a particular portion of a storage disc including an arc segment along an outer edge of adjacent surfaces of the storage disc.

DISC STORAGE CASSETTES

A disc cassette includes a curved portion configured to hold multiple discs. A platform portion abuts the curved portion. A movable bale is configured to maintain discs securely in the disc cassette except when rotated off the discs.

Disc grabbing device and operating method thereof

A disc grabbing device including a body, a drive shaft, a first cam, a second cam, multiple first movable parts and multiple second movable parts are provided. The drive shaft is rotatably disposed in the body. A first cam and a second cam are disposed on the drive shaft, and rotate together with the drive shaft. The first movable parts are disposed in the body and correspond to the first cam, and move to a disc hold position or a disc release position along with the rotation of the first cam. The second movable parts are disposed in the body and correspond to the second cam, and move to a disc release position or a disc hold position along with the rotation of the second cam.

OPTICAL DISK DEVICE, OPTICAL-DISK CHECKING METHOD AND OPTICAL-DISK CHECKING PROGRAM

A conventional checking methodin which all of the optical disks are selected one by one from the plurality of optical disks stacked in a thickness direction and accommodated in a magazinetakes lots of time for checking. To solve the problem above, the optical disk device has a magazine, a disk drive, and a disk carrier device. The magazine accommodates a plurality of optical disks stacked in the thickness direction of the optical disks. The disk drive checks at least a recording surface facing an inner wall of the magazine of any optical disk of the optical disks accommodated in the magazine. Of the plurality of optical disks stacked and accommodated in the magazine, the disk carrier device takes out an optical disk positioned at an end in the thickness direction and whose recording surface faces the inner wall of the magazine, and carries it to the disk drive.

Conductive polymers for use in magnetic media

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording medium includes a substrate, an underlayer positioned above the substrate, a magnetic recording layer positioned above the underlayer, and a plurality of conductive polymers dispersed within at least one of the substrate, the underlayer and the magnetic recording layer.

STORAGE LIBRARY SYSTEM

Implementations generally relate to storage systems. In one implementation, a system includes a plurality of storage libraries that store a plurality of removable media units. The system also includes a plurality of head units for reading and writing to one or more of the removable media units. The system also includes a plurality of robots that transfer one or more of the removable media units between one or more of the storage libraries and one or more of the head units. The system also includes enabling one or more of the robots to recover a set of data from two or more of the removable media units if a failure occurs in association with at least one of the other removable media units.
