A system and method for remote activation of a storage operation of pictorial information

The invention relates to a system and method for remote activation of a storage operation of pictorial information. According to the invention, it involves a wearable sensor device, comprising at least one sensor providing sensor signals, a processing unit for running computer programs, a first memory unit for storing instructions for said computer programs and a wireless signaling unit for communicating with external devices over a wireless link. The system further comprises at least one second digital device comprising a recording apparatus adapted to be set in a mode of continuous capture of pictorial information, a second memory unit, and a wireless signaling system for communicating with external devices over a wireless link. The processing unit in the wearable sensor device is adapted to send commands over said wireless link by means of one-way transmission to said second digital device to trigger, in response to said commands, storage of at least part of said continuously captured pictorial information in the memory of said at least one second device.

Variable operation tape performance

An access operation performed by a tape drive is detected. The access operation is performed on a tape medium. The access operation has one or more performance characteristics. The performance characteristics of the detected access operation are compared with one or more predefined performance thresholds. The comparison is in response to detecting the access operation. An operation performance of the tape medium is determined. The determination is based on comparing the performance characteristics with the predefined performance thresholds. A table associated with the tape medium is updated based on the operational performance of the tape medium. The table is stored in a non-volatile storage.

Computer program, method, and system for managing multiple data recording devices

A multiple recording device management system including an intermediate multiple recording device managing apparatus, a vehicle recording device mounted in a police vehicle and synced to the managing apparatus, and a personal recording device carried by a police officer and wirelessly synced to the managing apparatus. The managing apparatus is operable to detect when the vehicle recording device, personal recording device, or any other synced device in range has begun recording and to transmit a communication signal to any synced recording device in range indicating that the recording device should begin recording and to further transmit a time stamp to synced recording devices for corroborating recorded data.

An example zone player is configured to receive, from a cloud-based computing system, (i) an instruction for the zone player to accept playback responsibility for a remote playback queue, and (ii) data for retrieving at least a first media item identified in the remote playback queue from a cloud-based media service. The zone player is also configured to retrieve, from the cloud-based media service, the first media item and begin to play back the first media item. The zone player is also configured to request at least one additional media item from the remote playback queue and then (i) receive, from the cloud-based computing system, data for retrieving at least a second media item identified in the remote playback queue from the cloud-based media service, (ii) retrieve from the cloud-based media service, the second media item, and (iii) begin to play back the second media item.

Techniques described herein may involve modification of playback based on the proximity of a user to a playback device. An example technique involves a device determining that a listener is within a given proximity of a first playback device and based on determining that the listener is within the given proximity of the first playback device, causing the first playback device to begin playback of first media and causing a second playback device to modify playback of second media.

Magnetic thin film recording head module having electrical shielding between read and write transducer arrays

An apparatus, in accordance with one approach, includes a module having a first array of read transducers. A first electrical shielding layer is positioned above the first array of read transducers. An array of write transducers is positioned above the first electrical shielding layer. A second electrical shielding layer is positioned above the array of write transducers. A second array of read transducers is positioned above the second electrical shielding layer.

Example implementations may involve using a prompt to prevent inadvertent control or playback of audio content. When a mobile device receives input data indicating a command to play back audio content on a first playback device, the mobile device determines whether the mobile device is in proximity to the first playback device. If the mobile device determines that the mobile device within a given proximity to the first playback device, the mobile device transmits, via the network interface, one or more commands to instruct the first playback device to play back the audio content. However, if the mobile device determines that the mobile device outside the proximity, the mobile device displays a prompt indicating that the mobile device is the outside the given proximity to the first playback device and a selectable control that, when selected, transmits the one or more commands to play back the audio content.

An example computing device in a first mode is configured for playback of given audio content. While in the first mode, the computing device displays a representation of one or more playback devices in a media playback system that are available to accept playback responsibility for the given audio content and receives user input indicating a selection of a given playback device. The computing device transmits an instruction for playback responsibility to be transferred to the given playback device such that i) an identifier of the given audio content and a playback position for the given audio content are provided to the given playback device and ii) the given playback device becomes configured for playback of the given audio content. The computing device transitions from the first mode to a second mode in which the computing device is configured to control the given playback device's playback of the given audio content.
