Systems and methods for managing digital identities. In some embodiments, a method is provided, comprising acts of: receiving a request to validate at least one statement about a user; identifying, from the request, a reference to a distributed ledger, the reference comprising an identifier for the distributed ledger and an identifier for a transaction recorded on the distributed ledger; identifying, based at least in part on the identifier for the distributed ledger, at least one node of a network of nodes managing the distributed ledger; and communicating with the at least one node to validate the at least one statement about the user.

Methods for identifying encrypted content in ones of a plurality of encrypted data files in a library of encrypted files without decrypting the data files utilize crowd sourcing for content identification. A method includes selecting, by a computer, content titles for presenting with ones of identifiers for the data files in a data structure. Each of the identifiers includes a hash of metadata for one of the data files and the content titles include a character string that identifies each file's content. The user selection data identifies the content titles that correspond to the data files. The computer determines which content titles satisfy a minimum confidence threshold for associating with one of the identifiers, based on a quality or quantity of the multiple independent clients supplying the user selection data. An apparatus for performing the method includes a memory holding instructions for performing steps of the method as summarized above.

A method and system for delivering encoded content are provided. A holdback representing a portion of the encoded content is extracted, thereby damaging the encoded content. The damaged encoded content is distributed. The holdback is transmitted to enable reintegration of the holdback with the damaged encoded content to restore the encoded content.

A method, computer program product and computing device for receiving a request to load at least one new media content item on a personal media device. The size of the at least one new media content item is compared with the amount of storage space remaining on the personal media device to determine if the personal media device has sufficient available storage space. If the personal media device does not have sufficient available storage space, a relative weight associated with at least one old media content item stored on the personal media device is ascertained, the relative weight corresponding to a likelihood that the at least one old media content item will be rendered on the personal media device.

A configuration capable of recording MMT format data on a medium as BDAV format data and performing copy control according to the original copy control information is achieved. The MMT format data, for which copy control information is set, is input and recorded on an information recording medium as BDAV format data. As record data, (a) a stream file including a packet string in which the MMT format data is stored, and (b) copy control information corresponding to the stream file, in which the copy control information corresponding to the MMT format data is reflected, are generated and recorded as an additional header of a packet included in the stream file or as another file.

The user interface displays a user selectable indicia representing a similar member function for allowing a user to search a media service for at least one other user. The one other user has a degree of similarity with respect to the searching user. Another method includes facilitating the search of such a similar user within a media service.

The contents of each offering are individually licensed for public performance at a particular location where the jukebox is found. The jukebox displays advertisements that are selected in response to user interaction with the jukebox or a number of other factors. The jukebox features a screen that allows user to interact with the jukebox to select offerings, but also to respond to advertising. Jukebox can function in cooperation with a server, but in the alternate, can function as an independent and stand-alone device when connection to server is not available.
