The video recording apparatus includes a first demultiplexer, configured to: separate program information, audio data, and video data from a transport stream; a marker, configured to: mark the separated audio data and the separated video data, and transmit a mixed stream to an encryption processor, where the mixed stream includes the program information, the marked audio data, and the marked video data; and the encryption processor, configured to: identify the marked audio data and the marked video data in the mixed stream, encrypt the identified audio data and the identified video data to obtain encrypted audio data and encrypted video data, and transmit the encrypted audio data, the encrypted video data, and the program information to a memory in a rich execution environment REE for storage, so as to implement video recording.

A method for providing purchased content is provided. Management data including the identification data of the purchased content data stored in the information processing apparatus is received. Backup data of a user identification associated with the information processing apparatus is updated based on the management data. A request with the user identification associated with the information processing apparatus is received. A determination is made as to whether the request is authorized based on an authentication process. A list of identification data of content data identified in the backup data is provided to the information processing apparatus in response to a determination that the request is authorized. An interface apparatus and method for transmission and reception of a control signal and a digital stream between an audio/video (A/V) system and a digital data recording and/or reproducing device are provided. A content recording apparatus includes an obtaining unit which obtains a content having a variable-length packet structure, an encrypter which generates encrypted data by encrypting the content, and a recorder which records the encrypted data in a block unit having a fixed length in a recording medium. The encrypted data includes an invalidated region unnecessary for reproduction of the content. The recorder records a size of the invalidated region in the recording medium.
