An approach, for storing video data in a plurality of tape media via a ring buffer. A tape data splitter receives video data stored in a ring buffer. The tape data splitter writes the video data to a current tape media. The tape data splitter detects an end of tape media event. The tape data splitter responds to the end of tape media event, by switching the current tape media to a next tape media. The tape data splitter selects a resume point for the video data stored in the ring buffer and writes to the next tape media, the video data stored in the ring buffer that is subsequent to the resume point.

Systems and methods for digital compositing platforms that utilize time-sculpting rules with respect to one or more layers of a composition are disclosed. Such time-sculpting rules may enable layers of a composition to be temporally linked or modified in a content agnostic manner. In this way, content can easily be manipulated, substituted, altered, etc. and the composition automatically modified based on the set of time-sculpting rules to ensure that the resulting composition is coherent and cogent, despite the alterations to the layers or the source of content thereof.

An example implementation involves comparing one or more first network performance metrics corresponding to a network interface of the first media device to one or more second network performance metrics corresponding to a network interface of the second media device, wherein the comparison indicates that the first media device has a better network connection than the second media device. Based on the comparison, the first media device is configured to forward data indicating audio content from a network source to the second media device to facilitate playback of the audio content by the second media device.
