AEROSOL DELIVERY DEVICE WITH MODULAR LIGHTER
The present disclosure is directed to an aerosol delivery device and a holder for use with a removable substrate cartridge. In one implementation, the holder includes a main body defining a proximal end and a distal end, the main body further defining a receiving chamber configured to receive at least a portion of a substrate cartridge, and an aerosol passageway that extends through at least a portion of the main body, a power source, and a modular lighter configured to ignite the ignitable heat source. The modular lighter is powered by the power source and is engageable with and separable from the main body.

Method and system for providing a heat-not-burn tobacco product
A heat-not-burn tobacco aerosol source member or consumable includes a first heating section with a front end. The first heating section contains a liquid aerosol precursor existing as a free liquid in an unbound form. A second heating section is provided with a mouth end. The second heating section contains a solid tobacco substrate. A first thermal barrier that is vapor permeable but liquid impermeable is located between the first heating section and the second heating section. The system has a simple structure and lowers processing costs, and greatly reduces undesirable harmful chemicals because of its lower heating temperatures for the first and second heating sections of the consumable.

HYDROPHOBIC TIPPING PAPER
A smoking article includes a tobacco substrate and a mouthpiece axially aligned in an abutting end to end relationship with the tobacco substrate. Hydrophobic tipping paper is disposed about the mouthpiece. The tipping paper is hydrophobic due to hydrophobic groups covalently bonded to the tipping paper.
SMOKING ARTICLE WITH HEAT RESISTANT SHEET MATERIAL
A smoking article includes a sheet material including a fibrous layer formed of cellulosic fibres and at least 50% by weight of inorganic filler material having a particle size in range of from 0.1 microns and 50 microns, wherein the sheet material has a tensile strength of at least 900 N/m. The fibrous layer includes a binder material, such as an organic binder material. The organic binder material can be a cellulosic binder material. A coating layer may be provided on at least one side of the fibrous layer.

Rods for use in smoking articles
A rod for use in a smoking article comprises a gathered sheet of homogenised tobacco material circumscribed by a wrapper. The sheet of homogenised tobacco material may comprises one or more aerosol-formers and have an aerosol former content of greater than 5% on a dry weight basis or of between 5% and 30% by weight on a dry weight basis. The rod may comprise a continuous element to which one or more additives have been applied, which is incorporated into the gathered continuous sheet of homogenised tobacco material. A method of forming the rod comprises the steps of: providing a continuous sheet of homogenised tobacco material; gathering the continuous sheet of homogenised tobacco material transversely relative to the longitudinal axis thereof; circumscribing the gathered continuous sheet of homogenised tobacco material with a wrapper to form a continuous rod; and severing the continuous rod into a plurality of discrete rods. The sheet of homogenised tobacco material is preferably crimped or otherwise textured.

End piece for aerosol generating article
An end piece (200) for positioning over a heat source (102) of an aerosol generating article (100) includes a body (210) defining a bore configured to receive the aerosol generating article and includes a cage (220) configured to surround at least a portion of the heat source and to allow air to access the heat source. The end piece also includes a stop (240) arranged to engage a distal end (105) of the heat source as the aerosol generating article is slid through the bore. The stop is configured to prevent the distal end of the heat source from being advanced beyond the cage. The end piece may optionally include a seal (230) extending from an inner surface of the cage downstream of the stop. The seal is arranged to surround and contact the aerosol article to limit volatile compounds released from the heat source during combustion from entering air drawn through the aerosol generating article.
