The label further has a tab, which tab extends from the top edge of the label and is for displaying the measure of the label. The label has adhesive on its back side, but adhesive does not extend up the tab. The label is for being adhered to a cooperating substrate, which substrate is a protrusion which extends upwardly from a tray. Also disclosed is a method of using the label.

A method and apparatus for measuring a subject's ability to perform a varying range of barrier reaches is provided. The apparatus includes a barrier having a substantially horizontal upper surface at a height above a base point. A sensing and recording device is positioned adjacent to the barrier for sensing and recording a plurality of data points. A marking device for grasping by the subject engages the sensing and recording device for creating the plurality of data points as the subject bends forward against the barrier. The data points are recorded and converted into an interpolated arc reflecting the subject's reach at the barrier height.

The second track pattern may be shifted along the measuring direction by a pattern offset STO relative to the first track pattern. In the detector, first-track and second-track field generating coil portions generate fields in first and second interior areas aligned with the first and second pattern tracks, respectively. First and second sensing coil configurations that are aligned with the first and second tracks, respectively, are offset relative to one another by STO+/0.5*W along the measuring direction. In various embodiments, the first and second sensing coil configurations may have the same sequence of individual coil polarities if the generated field polarities are different, and may have inverted or opposite sequences if the generated field polarities are the same.

This invention may be most useful when recording and classifying evidence. The measuring device should be portable and comprised of a flat, straight elongated member with measuring indicia along one or both the measuring edges, wherein the measuring indicia corresponds with values with labels of the standard sizes of comparable objects. The measuring indicia extends along the length of the measuring edge and the labels indicate the closest sized object. Other measuring indicia along the length of the measuring edge may also correspond to standard measurement units. The method should directly correlate a measurement with a comparable object for the purpose of recording evidence.

A method of determining ventilator settings includes positioning the tape along the patient with the reference element adjacent the patient first end and with one of the length-indicating elements adjacent and aligned with the patient second end, and reading the respective ventilator-setting element corresponding to the aligned length-indicating element to identify an appropriate tidal-volume setting for the ventilator.

The marker device includes a machine-readable reference symbol on an external surface thereof, with the reference symbol being located on the marker device such that in use the reference symbol on the marker device and a subset of the machine-readable codes on the gauge member are simultaneously visible. In a preferred embodiment the elongate gauge member includes a coilable tape and the marker device includes a housing within which the coilable tape is enclosed. A system including the measuring apparatus together with a mobile computing device is also disclosed.
