Measuring tape with finger stop
Disclosed is a measuring tape which comprises a housing, a reel received in the housing, and a blade wound on an outer surface of the reel and withdrawn or restored from an entrance of the housing, the measuring tape comprising: a finger recess formed through a bottom surface of the housing to expose a bottom surface of the blade; and a brake including a slide button exposed to the upper portion of the entrance, a brake plate slidely moving inside the housing depending on the movement of the slide button, and a brake port formed at an end of the brake plate to selectively press the upper surface of the blade, wherein the brake pork is positioned on the upper portion of the finger recess in a released state, and presses the upper surface of the blade by moving to the rear side of the finger recess in a locked state.

MEASURING DEVICE
A measuring device includes a measure, a reel around which the measure is wound, the reel rotating according to pulling-out of the measure and being provided with a code pattern that changes along a rotation direction, a reader configured to optically read the code pattern, and a calculator configured to calculate a measurement value of the measure from a reading result by the reader.
Measuring tape with variable mass along tape length
A method of producing a measuring tape may include providing a tape measure blade having a first end configured to extend from a housing and a second end configured to be wound on a reel assembly, defining a first non-critical region from the first end to a start of a critical region, defining a second non-critical region from the second end to an end of the critical region, and modifying a mass per unit length of a portion of the blade such that a mass per unit length of the first and second non-critical regions is less than a mass per unit length of the critical region.

Measurement Devices and Methods
A measurement device includes first and second measurement indicia. First indicia (e.g., on the tape) may include numerals regularly spaced to mark inches or other units of length (e.g., 1, 2, 3, etc,). Also included are second indicia, that are non-numeric (e.g., letters, such as A, B, C, etc.) where the second indicia are regularly spaced to mark fractions of inches or other units of length indicated by the first indicia. The second indicia are positioned between adjacent first indicia. For example, the letters (A, B, C, etc.) may he spaced every sixteenth or other fraction of an inch between the “1” and “2” (adjacent first indicia). Where sixteenths are used, the letters A-O are equally spaced, between the adjacent first indicia (e.g., between the “1”P′ and the “2”). The A-O may repeat between each integral number—between “1” and “2”, between “2” and “3” and so forth.
MEASURING TAPE
A tape measure marking system includes indicia along the length of a measuring tape positioned at regular distance intervals along the length of the measuring tape, with the indicia located at some regular repeating intervals along the tape being visually discernible relative to indicia at other regular repeating intervals along the tape to allow for easier visual identification of thicker intervals with respect to the other indicia.
Tape Measure with Reinforced Tape Blade
A tape measure including a reinforced or coated tape measure blade is provided. The reinforcement layer is thicker than the metal inner layer of the tape blade. The reinforcement layer provides a reinforced tape blade such that the elongate tape blade may have a pinch load threshold of greater than 30 lbs. and/or a pinch height at break of less than 1.5 mm.

Method and Apparatus for Providing a Measuring Tape with Increased Cupping
A method of producing a measuring tape may include providing a cupped blade with substantially uniform cupping over a longitudinal length of the cupped blade, applying a stress relief operation to a selected portion of only a convex side of the cupped blade to increase curvature of the cupped blade in the selected portion of the cupped blade where the stress relief operation includes bead blasting the selected portion via a dual nozzle shot peening assembly to define a combined bead blast area that is substantially centered with respect to a longitudinal centerline of the blade, and operably coupling the cupped blade to a reel assembly and providing the cupped blade and reel assembly within a housing to define the measuring tape device.
