Device for measuring a measurement
A device for measuring a dimension includes: an electronic tape measure including: a portable casing including an opening having a Y axis; a winder in the casing having an X axis; a tape passing through the casing opening and including an end fixed on the winder and a free end outside the casing; a module for measuring a measurement relating to said outer section; a trigger for generating a signal by the trigger activation; and an interpretation module for controlling inputting of the measurement when the trigger signal is received, in which device the free end of the outer section includes a fastener, and the casing includes a fastening region allowing the fastener to be fixed, the length of the surface of the casing that extends between the fastening region and the opening of the casing being less than 4 cm.
Calibration of writer offset using media dimensional stability
In one embodiment, a method includes writing, using a magnetic head, a set of parallel shingled tracks onto a magnetic recording tape using specified drive parameters, changing one of the specified drive parameters, reading a set of selected data tracks on the magnetic recording tape using the changed drive parameter, changing a lateral head position while reading the set of selected data tracks using the changed drive parameter, comparing track error rates observed during reading at the different lateral head positions, selecting a reader offset value based on the comparing, and performing a further action using the selected reader offset value.

COMBINATION TOOL
A multifunctional scraper includes a scraper blade (1) and a handle (2) coupled to the scraper blade (1). The multifunctional scraper further includes a second tool (4), and the handle (2) is provided with a tool receptacle (3) adapted to the second tool (4) in terms of shape and size. The second tool (4) is movably inserted in the tool receptacle (3). The multifunctional scraper, while not compromising the grip feel or outer appearance of the scraper handle (2), through providing the tool receptacle (3) that can accommodate another object such as the second tool (4) such as a screwdriver bit (21), a knife blade (22) or a tape measure (46) in the handle (2), integrates the functions of different tools into a single scraper, achieving usability of the scraper in multifunctional applications and facilitating carrying and use of an operator.
System and method for using a digital measuring device to install a structure
Disclosed is a system and method for using a digital measuring device to install a structure. For example, the system can be used to install hurricane shutters over a window or door of a dwelling. Alternatively, the system can be used to install decorative shutters, shelving, or window treatments. Other example will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art. The present system is beneficial in any situation where taking accurate measurements is critical to the proper installation of a structure. The system employs a digital measuring device that wirelessly communicates with a mobile computing device. In one embodiment, the measuring device is a tape measure and the mobile computing device is a phone or table computer. The mobile computing device is preferably used to demonstrate to the user what measurements need to be taken. After the user takes the required measurements, the accuracy and sufficiency of the measurements are thereafter confirmed via the mobile computing device.

SURVEYING SYSTEM AND AUXILIARY MEASURING INSTRUMENT
A method comprising: setting up a stationary surveying device at a first known positioning in a surrounding area of the object; retrieving from a memory a set of object points of an object to be surveyed and/or to be marked; surveying and/or marking from a first positioning object points of the set of object points that can be surveyed and/or can be marked from the first positioning by means of the free beam, on the basis of a target direction; ascertaining missing object points of a set of object points; relocating the surveying device to a second, unknown positioning in the surrounding area of the object; automatically determining a second positioning by the surveying device on the basis of the knowledge of the first positioning, so that the second positioning is known; surveying and/or marking missing object points by means of the free beam from the second positioning.
Method and apparatus for providing a measuring tape with increased cupping
A method of producing a measuring tape may include providing a cupped blade with substantially uniform cupping over a longitudinal length of the cupped blade, applying a stress relief operation to a selected portion of only a convex side of the cupped blade to increase curvature of the cupped blade in the selected portion of the cupped blade where the stress relief operation includes bead blasting the selected portion via a dual nozzle shot peening assembly to define a combined bead blast area that is substantially centered with respect to a longitudinal centerline of the blade, and operably coupling the cupped blade to a reel assembly and providing the cupped blade and reel assembly within a housing to define the measuring tape device.
Attachment for tape measure that can receive an elongated member such as molding
The present invention relates to a measurement apparatus designed to fit on the end of a measuring tape for measuring the length of an elongated member having a beveled cut end. The measurement apparatus may have a first receptacle for measuring from an acute point of the beveled cut end. The measurement apparatus may have a second receptacle for measuring from an obtuse point of the beveled cut end. The second receptacle may be offset from the first receptacle by an offset distance in a lengthwise direction. The measurement apparatus may include a tape channel positioned between the first and second receptacles. The measurement apparatus may include a longitudinally adjustable hinge and a latch. The longitudinally adjustable hinge and the latch may be used to secure the measuring tape in the tape channel. The longitudinally adjustable hinge may also be used to adjust the offset distance.
