Disposable Inhalation Device That Releases Smoke Which is Not Direclty Inhaled
A disposable inhalation device that releases smoke which is not directly inhaled is provided. The body of the device is in the form of a cylinder formed by a sheath of thin material and is composed of three components that function independently of one another: an inhalation section, organic matter combustion section and a splitting section. The splitting section separates the inhalation section and the organic matter combustion section. Through the side apertures on the body of the inhalation section, the external atmospheric air enters the inhalation section during the inhalation process, where it mixes with the inhalation substance and the person inhales. By combustion of the organic matter together with the sheath of the organic matter combustion section, smoke is not inhaled directly by the inhaler i.e. the person who is inhaling.
METHOD FOR APPLYING HEAT CONDUCTING PATCHES TO A MATERIAL WEB
A smoking article is provided, including a carbonaceous combustible heat source, an aerosol-forming substrate, and a wrapper circumscribing at least the heat source and the aerosol-forming substrate. One or more heat conducting elements overlie a rear portion of the heat source and an adjacent front portion of the aerosol-forming substrate. At least one heat conducting element includes a patch of thermally conductive printable medium printed onto the wrapper. Also provided is a method for applying heat conducting patches onto a web of smoking article wrapper material, wherein at least some of the patches include an area of thermally conductive printable medium.
SMOKING ARTICLE COMPRISING AEROGEL
A smoking article is provided that includes an aerogel, which can be optionally impregnated with a catalytic metal compound or can optionally be coated with at least one aerosol-forming material and a flavoring agent. The smoking article comprises various segments such as a heat generation segment, an aerosol-generation segment, and a mouth end. The aerogel can be placed near or within any of these segments.
The presence of the aerogel can reduce the concentration of certain gaseous components of mainstream smoke generated during use of a smoking article incorporating a heat generation segment containing a fuel element.
HYDROPHOBIC PLUG WRAP
A smoking article includes a tobacco substrate and a filter segment comprising filtration material axially aligned in an abutting end to end relationship with the tobacco substrate. A hydrophobic plug wrap is disposed about the filtration material. The plug wrap is hydrophobic via hydrophobic groups chemically bonded to the plug wrap.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE WITH NARROW HOLLOW TUBULAR FILTER
An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: a substrate portion containing aerosol-forming substrate; and a hollow tubular filter portion having an inner diameter of between 0.5 millimeters and 2 millimeters, and the aerosol-forming substrate including at least one aerosol-former selected from the group consisting of: polyhydric alcohols, esters of polyhydric alcohols, and aliphatic esters of mono-, di-, or polycarboxylic acids. A system for generating an aerosol is also provided, including an aerosol-generating device including a heating chamber and a heating element; and the aerosol-generating article, the aerosol-generating article being configured to be insertable into the heating chamber.
Filter for a smoking article
A filter (11) for a smoking article (10) comprises a first flow path (13) through the filter, a second flow path (14) through the filter, the second flow path being disposed around the first flow path, and a selector (16) for allowing flow selectively through the first and second flow paths.
CATALYST INTRODUCTION METHODS FOR ACCELERATED DEACETYLATION OF CELLULOSE ESTERS
Disclosed herein is a degradable cigarette filter comprising a cellulose ester and including a catalyst comprising a basic material, an enzymatic material, or combinations thereof. The catalyst, when exposed to water, may deacetylate the bloomed cellulose acetate tow by at least 10% in 20 days or less. The filters described herein therefore degrade more rapidly than other known cellulose acetate tow filters.
FILTERS AND ELONGATED MEMBERS FORMED OF PALM PAPER AND HAVING A FLAVOR CAPSULE
A device for burning smoking material and inhaling the resulting smoke is disclosed. The device can include an truncated conical member formed from a material having an internal elongated cavity extending from an open end to a closed end. The elongated cavity can be configured to receive a smoking material. The smoking accessory can include a filter disposed within the truncated conical member and defining the closed end. The filter can have a recess formed in a surface of the body along a curved face extending from the first end to the second end, the recess extending radially into the body. The smoking accessory can include a capsule containing a flavoring agent disposed within the recess.
Degradable filter element
A filter material adapted for use as a filter element of a smoking article is provided, the filter material including at least one segment of fibrous tow having a plurality of degradable particles dispersed therein, the degradable particles comprising a starch material. Exemplary starch materials include naturally-occurring starch, hydroxyalkylated starch, starch esters, ionically modified starch, oxidized starch, hydrolyzed starch, plasticized starch, gelatinized starch, grafted starch, crosslinked starch, transglycosylated starch, starch ethers, and mixtures thereof, as well as blends of starch with other polymers. Filter elements and smoking articles, such as cigarettes, that contain the filter material are also provided. A method of preparing polymer fibers for use in filter elements is also provided, the method including adding the starch material to a fiber precursor solution prior to fiber extrusion or dry-blending the starch material with the polymer material to be formed into fibers.
CELLULOSE ACETATE FIBER TOW BAND FOR USE IN CIGARETTE FILTER, CIGARETTE FILTER, APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING TOW BAND, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING TOW BAND
A tow band (TB) for use in a cigarette filter is a tow band in which a plurality of filaments (F) made of cellulose acetate fibers are bundled together and crimped. In the tow band, a filament denier is not less than 6.0 and not more than 11.0, a total denier is not less than 5,000 and not more than 15,000, and a Cv value of the number of crimps of the tow band is not more than 4%.
