METHODS OF SETTING A TAPPET IN AN ENGINE
A method of setting a tappet in an engine. The method includes setting a crankshaft at a predetermined crankshaft rotation angle. A cam coupled to the crankshaft is configured to provide cam lobe lift when the crankshaft is set at the predetermined crankshaft rotation angle. The cam lobe lift translates a tappet screw, coupled to the cam, towards a valve by a distance less than a gap defined between the valve and the tappet screw. The method also includes adjusting the tappet screw such that a zero gap tappet clearance is defined between the valve and the tappet screw.
Measurement device
A measurement device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is a measurement device that measures a position of an annual part to be measured that is arranged at an opening edge of a hole formed in a member to be measured, and the measurement device includes: a probe that is displaceable in an axial direction; a holder that holds the probe; and a measurement instrument that measures displacement of the probe in the axial direction. The probe includes an inclined portion at an tip end of the probe, the inclined portion being inclined relative to a central axis of the probe at an angle equal to an angle defined between a central axis of the hole in the member to be measured and a horizontal plane in a state in which the member to be measured is mounted on the horizontal plane.
Device and method for measuring a valve seat formed in a piece
A device (1) for measuring a valve seat formed in a piece has an elongate shape and defines a longitudinal axis (A), and includes: a slide (9), slidingly coupled to a guide (11) for translating in a scanning direction (B) inclined to the longitudinal axis; a sensor (10), mounted on the slide for measuring a parameter relating to a profile of the seat; a processing unit connected to the sensor; a rotary actuator (13) defining a longitudinal rotation axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the device; and a transmission assembly interposed between the rotary actuator and the slide for transforming a rotary motion about a longitudinal rotation axis in a reciprocating linear motion of the slide along the scanning direction.
Method of detecting lift amount of valve
According to a method of detecting a lift amount of a valve, an area-increasing jig is attached to an upper surface of a retainer attached to the valve. The area-increasing jig has a larger width than a width of the upper surface of the retainer. Then a lift amount of the valve is detected by measuring a distance to the area-increasing jig by using a non-contact sensor disposed above the retainer.
Modular system for checking a valve seat and a valve guide in cylinder heads of internal combustion engines
A modular system (1) for checking a valve seat and its associated valve guide in cylinder heads of internal combustion engines comprises a guide and support assembly (10), movable in three directions, which carries one or more electronic gauges (11) and a precentering pin (14) to guide the insertion of the gauge in the valve seat and its associated valve guide, and a tilting table (3) for loading and locating a cylinder head (4). Thanks to the particular structure of a support mechanism (12) connected to the guide and support assembly, the gauge is able to self-position on the valve seat to be checked and to disengage in a checking condition from the guide and support assembly at least in one of the three directions. The tilting table can be adjusted depending on the dimensions and layout of the cylinder head to be checked and includes a swing system (6) to set the tilt of the table as a function of the inclination of the valve seat and its associated valve guide to be checked.
Measurement method
This invention relates to a method for measuring a feature of an object that comprises obtaining a representation of at least the feature on the object by acquiring multiple data points via surface measurement of at least the feature. A model substantially replicating at least the feature of the object is fitted to the representation. The model comprises parameters defining at least two independently alterable portions that are linked at a common point. The fitting comprises changing the form of the model by altering at least one of the at least two independently alterable portions. The method also comprises obtaining information regarding at least the feature from the fitted model.
