A sensor pressing member to which a sensor is attached such that the sensor is exposed toward a measurement target. The sensor pressing member presses the sensor in a first direction relative to the measurement target to bring the sensor into contact with the measurement target. The sensor pressing member includes an elastic body positioned opposite the measurement target with the sensor in between in the first direction. The elastic body includes a cavity therein.

Force sensor

The present invention provides a force sensor that is capable of detecting plastic deformation of a strain element. The force sensor detects components, in a plurality of directions, of a force exerted on the strain element. The force sensor includes: inspection strain gauges disposed in stress concentration areas of the strain element; and an inspection bridge circuit that includes the inspection strain gauges and that is configured to detect a component, in a specific direction, of a stress that occurs in the strain element.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ANALYSIS OF MATERIAL PROPERTIES OF COMPONENTS AND STRUCTURES USING MACHINING PROCESSES TO ENABLE STRESS RELIEF IN THE MATERIAL UNDER TEST

Analysis of residual stress in materials is often done in static conditions in a laboratory. Accurate systems and methods for performing these analyses in a dynamic, non-laboratory environment are notoriously difficult and can be very inaccurate. A method using a portable, field deployable apparatus having greater accuracy than currently available is disclosed whereby accurate and repeatable residual stress analysis may be implemented in non-laboratory environments leading to greatly improved diagnostics, maintenance and life limit prediction.

Integrated collar sensor for a downhole tool

Aspects of the subject technology relate to a sensor for a downhole tool. The downhole tool can include a collar and a sensor. The sensor can be secured to the collar for measuring one or more operational characteristics of the downhole tool during operation of the downhole tool. The sensor can include a substrate. The sensor can also include a plurality of strain gauges disposed on the substrate. The plurality of strain gauges can be configured to measure axial strains and torsional strains on the collar for measuring the one or more operational characteristics of the downhole tool.

Headset headband profile sensor with smart features control

A headset which includes an earpiece; a flexible headband coupled to the earpiece, the flexible headband including a flex sensing component, the headband profile sensing component determining when the headset is in a headset un-used orientation and a headset used orientation; and, a smart power control system, the smart power control system performing a smart power control operation based upon whether the headset is in the headset un-used orientation or the headset used orientation.

Techniques are described for monitoring the degradation of electrochemical cells. A battery monitoring system monitors, for each of one or more cells of a plurality of cells in a battery, an amount of mechanical deformation using one or more measuring devices. The battery monitoring system determines a number of cells of the plurality of one or more monitored cells for which the monitored amount of mechanical deformation exceeds a deformation threshold. The battery monitoring system determines whether the determined number of cells exceeds a threshold number of cells with an amount of mechanical deformation exceeding the deformation threshold. Responsive to determining the determined number of cells exceeds the threshold number of cells, the battery monitoring system sends a notification that the battery is degraded beyond an acceptable limit.

Laser-induced graphene-based bending sensor and method

A bending sensor includes a flexible substrate made of polyimide; a laser-induced graphene electrode formed into a top surface of the flexible substrate; and first and second pads formed as a laser-induced graphene into the top surface of the flexible substrate, wherein the first and second pads are in electrical contact with the laser-induced graphene electrode. A bending of the flexible substrate and the laser-induced graphene electrode changes a resistivity of the laser-induced graphene electrode, which is indicative of an amount of bending.

Patient handling apparatus with load sensor

A strain gauge assembly includes a member and a strain gauge supported by the member spaced. The strain gauge further includes a bearing surface and a contact surface spaced from the bearing surface. When the member is subject to a predetermined bending force, the bearing surface contacts the contact surface wherein at least a portion of the bending force bypasses the strain gauge and instead is transferred from the bearing surface to the contact surface.
