The present invention relates to an electric toothbrush that includes an outer case including a handle part having a tubular shape, and a head part extending from the handle part and having an opening area open to front; first and second electrodes disposed in the opening area and providing electromagnetic waves corresponding to a driving signal; and a head cover having a plurality of bristle holes, a first electrode hole, and a second electrode hole, which are formed therein, and closing the opening area. The first and second electrodes may penetrate the first and second electrode holes, respectively, and be exposed to outside.

Furthermore, the oral care implement includes a power source. A plurality of conductive protrusions may be electrically coupled to the power source. The plurality of conductive protrusions may include a base proximate the head and a distal end spaced from the head. Furthermore, at least one of the conductive protrusions may taper from the base to the distal end.

An oral care implement for dispensing an oral care agent includes a housing, reservoir therein containing an oral care fluid, and an electrical circuit comprising first and second electrodes connected to an onboard power source. Each electrode is in contact with the oral care fluid in the housing. An actuator, operably coupled to the power source, is configured to both selectively energize the circuit and activate dispensing of the oral care fluid. An electrical charge is applied to the oral care fluid by activating the actuator when dispensing the oral care fluid. When the fluid comprises a peroxide based tooth whitening agent, the dispensed fluid pH is increased by the electrical charge which improves the efficacy of the whitener. In one embodiment, the implement is a modular system including a powered base unit and one or more interchangeable cartridges each having a reservoir containing an oral care fluid.
