Closed course navigation through a moving medium
A method including propelling a vehicle disposed in a medium. The vehicle includes a body, a propulsion mechanism connected to the body, and a direction control system. The vehicle is subject to advection caused by movement of the medium. The method also includes commanding the vehicle to perform a navigation course comprising a closed course-over-ground. The method also includes periodically adjusting navigation of the vehicle along the closed course-over-ground such that a course-through-the-medium turn-rate is varied in a manner that causes a course-over-ground turn-rate of the vehicle to be held constant, thereby minimizing the impact of medium advection on vehicle speed over ground.
CARBON FOOTPRINT REDUCTION VIA CETACEAN PROTECTION
A system may include a memory and a processor in communication with the memory. The processor may be configured to perform operations. The operations may include collecting organism data and analyzing the organism data. The operations may also include predicting a organism movement pattern based on the organism data and relaying the organism movement pattern to a participant.
NAUTICAL CHART PROCESSING DEVICE AND NAUTICAL CHART PROCESSING METHOD
A nautical chart processing device is provided. The nautical chart processing device includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to receive position information indicating position of a pair of base points on an electronic chart, set a movable measurement point on a straight line connecting the pair of base points in real time, calculate, on the electronic chart, a distance between the movable measurement point and at least one base point of the pair of base points, and output position information of the movable measurement point and the calculated distance.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ROUTE PLANNING
A route planning apparatus is provided for planning a navigation route of a ship. The route planning apparatus includes a display to display a chart on a screen; and an operation interface configured to designate a position in the screen. In addition, the route planning apparatus includes a storage configured to store one or more potential base points that may be a potential base point of a waypoint; a processing circuitry configured to: set a waypoint on the chart in response to a navigator's operation; extract the base points within a predetermined range of the set waypoint as a reference from the storage; and a determine the extracted potential base point to be the base point of the set waypoint.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR POSITIONING A VEHICLE USING AN IMAGE-CAPTURING DEVICE
A method of positioning a vehicle (N) that is provided with an electronic processor unit (2) connected both to a nonoptical positioning device (3, 4) and to an optical device (5) for taking external images, the electronic processor unit (2) including a database of landmarks including at least the geographical position of each landmark and a descriptive element describing each landmark, the method comprising the steps of: estimating a first geographical position (P1e) for the vehicle (N) by means of the nonoptical positioning device (3, 4); from the database, preselecting landmarks having geographical positions situated within a predetermined radius around the first geographical position (P1e) of the vehicle (N); selecting the triplets that minimize geometrical errors; controlling the optical device (5) for taking external images to take images of the selected landmarks; selecting images in which the landmarks are indeed visible, identifying the landmarks in the images, and, from the images, measuring a relative or absolute bearing for each visible landmark; and determining a second geographical position (POraw or POc) for the vehicle (N) from the measured relative or absolute bearings, optionally while taking account of movement of the vehicle (N) while the images of the landmarks of the triplet were being taken.
TIDAL INFORMATION DISPLAY DEVICE
A tidal information display device for a movable body includes a position measurement module configured to detect a position of the movable body, a geographical information selection module configured to determine geographic information to be displayed on a display screen based on the detected position, a tidal information module configured to receive and store tidal information based on the detected position, and a tidal information display module configured to generate display data for displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) at a predetermined position on the display screen. The GUI is configured for showing the tidal information including at least one of: a present height of a tide, a high tide time, a low tide time, and a position of the tide.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ROUTE EDITING ASSISTANCE
A route editing assistance device for editing a first route is provided. The route editing assistance device includes an input interface, and processing circuitry. The input interface is configured to accept position information indicating positions of a first set of waypoints representing the first route. The processing circuitry is configured to accept position information indicating positions of a second set of waypoints, wherein the second set of waypoints defines a second route, and generate display data for simultaneously displaying the first route and the second route on a display.
TIDAL CURRENT INFORMATION DISPLAY DEVICE
A tidal current information display device for a movable body includes a position measurement module to detect a position of the movable body, a geographical information selection module to determine geographic information to be displayed on a display screen based on the detected position, a tidal current information receiving module to receive and store tidal current information based on the detected position, a tidal current information display module to generate display data for displaying a first graphical user interface (GUI) for displaying the tidal current information corresponding to a predetermined position on the geographic information displayed on the display screen, and a voyage time calculation module to calculate an estimated time for the movable body to reach the predetermined position. The first GUI is configured for showing at least one of: the estimated time and a direction and speed of a tidal current at the estimated time.
Method for vessel tracking
A computer-implemented method of tracking vessel movement which comprises receiving a first vessel data message comprising a first vessel identifier, the first vessel data message having been transmitted at a first time and being associated with a first position; and receiving a second vessel data message comprising a second vessel identifier, the second vessel data message having been transmitted at a second time and being associated with a second position. The method also comprises determining if the first vessel identifier and the second vessel identifier are related. If the first vessel identifier and the second vessel identifier are related, a speed required for a vessel to have moved from the first position to the second position is determined; which is then determined if the speed is below a speed threshold; and if the speed is below the speed threshold, the first position is associated with the second position.
BOAT SHARING SYSTEM
A boat sharing system includes a non-transitory computer readable memory for receiving and storing data for routes previously traveled. The route data includes starting and ending points and points of interest along the routes. The memory receives and stores data related to boat types, equipment for boating activities and boat drivers. A processing system accesses the memory and is configured to: display the stored data; receive and store route data and trip timing, boat type, equipment, boat driver requirements and activity desires for a present user; compare the present user's desired route, timing, activity, equipment and boat driver requirements with previously stored data.
