A toothbrush can include a handle and a head. At least one bristle can be attached to the head. The toothbrush can also have an illumination member, an illumination circuit and an activation device. A pliant base on the handle can be used to activate the activation device to initiate the illumination circuit.

The present invention relates to dental instruments having video capabilities. Specifically, the present invention relates to a dental instrument having a video camera for viewing a user's or patient's mouth when utilizing the dental instrument. More specifically, the dental instrument provides video output to a wireless device, such as a smart phone, tablet computer or other like computer. Methods of using the same are further provided.

A method and system for monitoring the location of an oral care device (102) within the mouth of a user, includes: an oral care device (102) having a light source (104); an optical sensor (112) configured to receive light emitted by the light source and to receive light reflected from a user using the oral care device; a computing device (110) adapted to receive and process signals generated by the optical sensor, and programmed to: detect at least one facial feature of the user from the received light reflected from a user; estimate the location of the user's teeth according to the detected facial feature; determine a location of the light source according to the received emitted light; compare the location of the light source to the location of the teeth to estimate the position of the oral care device with respect to the teeth of the user.

The exemplary embodiments disclose an apparatus, a system and method, and a computer program product for removing dental plaque. The exemplary embodiments may include emitting light, detecting reflections of the light, analyzing the reflected light, and determining an amount or location of dental plaque based on the reflected light.

The present invention relates to a tooth brushing system that provides users with a novel and convenient way to clean their teeth. The system is primarily comprised of at least one brushing ball with a plurality of bristles and at least one battery, at least one toothbrush which is further comprised of at least one LED and a plurality of bristles, and at least one storage case. The brushing ball is further comprised of a LED light that may be changed to a plurality of lighting colors. The system further provides a toothbrush that allows a user to be able to see into the darker areas of their mouth to facilitate better cleaning.

An oral healthcare personal appliance (10), configured for use with a removable brush head (20) having a first light guide (28), comprises a handle (16), an actuator (14) with a hollow drive shaft (18), a second light guide (36) disposed co-axially between first and second ends of the hollow drive shaft, a rear stop connection adapter (62) coupled to the second ends of the hollow drive shaft and the second light guide, a light source (66) to emit light into the second light guide, and an optional front stop connection adapter (34) coupled to the first ends of the hollow drive shaft and the second light guide. A combination electric toothbrush and water irrigation device that combines a battery powered water irrigation device with a vibrating electric toothbrush, both of which are housed in a self-contained compact hand-held device. The pump for the water irrigation device and the DC motor with an off-center weight are contained within the handle of the toothbrush. A slide out water reservoir allows the user to fill the extended handle portion with water. A flexible water inlet tube is capable of compressing when the water reservoir is in the storage position. A weight fixed to the end of the inlet tube causes the tube to bend via gravity enabling it to be in constant contact with water while the handle is held at various angles. An LED at the underside of the pump housing illuminates the water contained within the transparent water housing.

A lighting system device includes a light sensor to measure ambient lighting conditions; a light source; one or more computing devices allowing selecting a location other than ambient location; one or more computing devices that compare the ambient lighting conditions to the lighting conditions of the selected location; and one or more computing devices that control the output of the light source to produce lighting conditions that when combined with the ambient lighting conditions simulate the lighting conditions of the selected location.

Embodiments of the disclosure provide a video toothbrush. An exemplary video toothbrush may include a handle housing an exciter and a support element including a support neck and a support head. The support element may be configured to extend from a proximal connection with the handle to a distal end. The video toothbrush may further include a camera mounted near the distal end of the support head and a shaft extending from the support neck and configured to support a cleaning head toward a distal end of the shaft and configured to receive vibration from the exciter toward a proximal end of the shaft. The video toothbrush may also include the cleaning head having a plurality of bristles projecting in a first direction. The cleaning head may define a central opening. The central opening may be arranged to provide the camera with a view in the first direction.

The present invention offers a halo-illuminating light pattern for clearly showing areas of a pet's fur to the user performing brushing. Such a halo-illuminating light pattern provides a full, 360-degree light pattern of the pet's fur. This eliminates the necessity for using an additional light source, for example a flashlight or being made to settle on a light source that only highlights one side of a pet's fur, leaving another side in shadow.
