System, method, and apparatus for actively managing consumption of electric power supplied by one or more electric power grid operators
10303194 · 2019-05-28 · ·

Systems, methods and apparatus for power management in an electric power grid are disclosed. A power flow to a plurality of power consuming devices in the electric power grid is enabled and disabled by a plurality of controllable devices under the control of one or more client devices. An apparatus receives a power control command and select at least one client device to which to issue a power reduction message. The power reduction message comprises an amount of electric power to be reduced to at least one of the plurality of power consuming devices for a predetermined time. A database stores information relating to power consumed by the plurality of power consuming devices based on measurement and verification.

A power converter circuit includes a monitoring module that monitors a DC power source, the monitoring module comprising a microcontroller. The power converter circuit also includes a temperature sensor providing temperature data to the microcontroller. In response to an indication from the temperature data of a failure or a problem, the microcontroller changes a parameter of the power converter circuit.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DISPLAYING RESOURCE SAVINGS

Systems and methods for displaying resource savings. A system may comprise at least one computer-readable storage medium storing executable instructions, and at least one processor programmed by the executable instructions to present a visual representation of resource savings that are attributable to one or more consumption reduction measures. The visual representation may comprise at least one first column representing baseline resource consumption for a reporting period, at least one second column representing actual resource consumption during the reporting period, and a horizontal band intersecting the at least one first column, wherein a height of the horizontal band corresponds to a difference between a height of the at least one first column representing baseline resource consumption for the reporting period and a height of the at least one second column representing actual resource consumption during the reporting period.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING BASELINE CONSUMPTION

Systems and methods for adjusting a baseline resource consumption. The adjustment may be associated with at least one incident impacting resource consumption during a reporting period. resource consumption data may be acquired from one or more resource consumption sub-meters for a plurality of time points during the reporting period. A first resource consumption value may be established based on resource consumption data associated with time points during the reporting period prior to occurrence of at least one incident. A second resource consumption value may be established based on resource consumption data associated with time points during the reporting period subsequent to occurrence of the at least one incident. An amount of reduction or increase in resource consumption attributable to the at least one incident may be determined based on a comparison between the first resource consumption value and the second resource consumption value.

Disclosed embodiments relate to a power monitoring system. In some embodiments, the power monitoring system includes: a sampling device configured to measure patterns of energy consumed by loads included in the power system; an electric meter configured to measure an amount of second energy supplied from a system to the power system; a power supply configured to supply power stored therein or generate power to supply the power system and measure an amount of third energy supplied; and an external server configured to receive at least one of the patterns, the amount of the second energy and the amount of the third energy and analyze the patterns to acquire an amount of first energy for each of the loads. In some embodiments, the external server calculates at least one of the amount of the first, second and third energy.

Monitoring of distributed power harvesting systems using DC power sources

A monitoring system and method for monitoring performance of individual powers sources in a distributed power source system. A monitoring module is coupled to each of the power sources, or to each string of serially connected power sources, to monitor and collect data regarding current, voltage, temperature and other environmental factors at the power source. The collected data is transmitted over a power line to a central analysis station for analysis. Data collected from each source indicates malfunction or degradation at the source. Comparison of data collected from adjacent sources filters for environmental factors impacting neighboring sources such as cloudy days for a solar panel. Comparison of data collected from the same source at different times indicates soiling or degradation of the source with time or periodic events such as a moving shade from an adjacent building.

Devices, methods, and systems for occupancy detection

Devices, methods, and systems for occupancy detection are described herein. One device embodiment includes a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to determine energy consumption data associated with a structure at a point in time, and determine whether the structure is occupied at the point in time based, at least in part, on the determined energy consumption data.

METHOD OF UTILITY USAGE ANALYSIS
20190004098 · 2019-01-03 ·

A method and apparatus for analysing utility consumption at a utility supply location is described. The method comprises the steps of: receiving utility consumption data corresponding to utility consumption at the utility supply location over a time period to be analysed; generating a recurring consumption model indicative of repeating consumption patterns in the utility consumption data; identifying divergences between the utility consumption data and the recurring consumption model; computing a diagnostic measure indicative of irregular consumption based on the identified divergences; and outputting the diagnostic measure. The diagnostic measure may be used to identify flexibility or irregularities in consumption and/or to control supply of the utility. The utility may be e.g. electricity, gas or water.
