Device and method for anonymising smart metering data
A device comprising an input for obtaining consumption data relating to the consumption of a utility provided by a utility provider, an output for outputting modified consumption data and a processor arranged to generate the modified consumption data based on obtained consumption data so that the modified consumption data starts to converge with the obtained consumption data if a deviation of the obtained consumption data from the modified consumption data exceeds a predetermined threshold.
Automated monitoring for changes in energy consumption patterns
A process for detecting statistically significant changes in energy consumption patterns by monitoring for changes in the parameters to a parametric energy model. Two parametric models of energy consumption are created: the first being a model providing an initial base line of energy consumption, the second being a test model to be compared to the initial base model. Statistically significant changes are detected by using a difference score that compares the parameters of two models along with the uncertainties of each parameter to determine whether the differences in the parameters of each model indicate a statistically significant deviation in the energy consumption pattern.
Position Sensing Modules and Related Devices and Methods
Position sensing and verification modules and a meter are provided. A module is configured to determine a position of one or more switch poles by measuring a current across the one or more switch poles. If a current is greater than or equal to a predetermined current threshold, the position is closed. If a current is less than the predetermined current threshold, the position is open. The module is configured to determine a line voltage with respect to a first reference value, determine a load voltage with respect to the first reference value, compare the line voltage to the load voltage to determine if the line voltage and the load voltage are within a predetermined threshold, and confirm the position of the one or more switch poles based on the comparison of the line voltage to the load voltage for the one or more line phases.
DEVICE IDENTIFICATION
A device identification method, a device identification system and a device prediction component. The method can include determining, based on first power consumption data indicative of a first power consumption associated with a premises within a first time period, a predicted identity of an active device at the premises within a second time period subsequent to the first time period. A detected identity of the active device at the premises within the second time period is determined, based on second power consumption data indicative of a second power consumption associated with the premises within the second time period. A determined identity of the active device at the premises within the second time period is determined, based on at least one of the predicted identity and the detected identity.
WORKLOAD OPTIMIZATION BASED ON ENERGY CHARACTERISTICS
Embodiments of the present invention disclose system for workload analyzing and optimization. The system includes one or more processors which are configured to capture, in real time, electrical signature data of one or more sub-systems running on a main system. The electrical signature is captured by one or more sensors coupled to a power controller. The captured electrical signature data into at least time domain or frequency domain. A volume of a workload of the one or more sub-systems is determined based on the converted data and a first threshold data. A type of the workload is determined based on the converted data and a second threshold data. A report is generated based on the determined volume and the type of workload.
Monitoring and optimisation of gas consumption
A gas meter includes a valve, or means for communicating with a valve, and a processing unit arranged for: analyzing the measurements of the gas consumption to produce predefined parameter measurements relating to the gas consumption, and detecting, from said predefined parameter measurements, one or more operating phases of at least one predetermined system of the installation; for each predetermined system, following each operating phase of said predetermined system, if a cumulated gas consumption during the current period of said predetermined system exceeds a predetermined threshold associated with said predetermined system, closing the valve until the end of said current period.
Position sensing modules and related devices and methods
Position sensing modules associated with a device are provided. The position sensing modules are configured to receive electrical characteristics associated with one or more switches of a device over a predetermined period of time, the one or more switches being configured to connect service to or disconnect service from a customer; calculate a match indicator for each phase of the device including the one or more switches, the match indicator indicating whether an electrical characteristic on a load-side of the device matches a same electrical characteristic on a line-side of the device for each phase of the device; and determine a position of the one or more switches based on the received electrical characteristics and the calculated match indicator for each phase of the device.
Monitoring load operation
A method of monitoring power usage of a load includes defining one or more parameters of the load that vary with a mode of operation of the load, receiving measurement data related to the one or more parameters of the load over a first period of time, recording the measurement data, determining a plurality of groups, each group defining a set of measurements in a continuous range of values, each group having a lower threshold value and an upper threshold value, the lower and upper threshold values defined by having less than a minimum threshold number of recorded measurements of the lower and upper threshold values, and associating a mode of operation with each of the plurality of groups.
METHOD OF DISAGGREGATING AN ENERGY USAGE SIGNAL OF A USAGE AREA
A method of disaggregating an energy usage signal of a usage area includes steps of providing a gateway device for an aggregate energy usage signal of a usage area, installing a user application on a user computing device to display information from the gateway device, receiving a plurality of inputs, and determining the energy usage of the individual electrically powered devices in the usage area based on the aggregate energy usage signal and based on the plurality of inputs.
Systems and methods for resource consumption analytics
The systems and methods described herein are directed to resource monitoring and resource consumption analytics. Resource usage is tracked through a gateway device monitoring resources using remote input sensors, and usage data is transmitted to a central processing unit whereby the data is interpreted and compared with usage over time and site conditions such as weather. For example, incoming usage data is compared with resource signatures in a signature library representing an ideal usage or historical usage for given site condition. This data is interpreted into simple command displays with alerts, alarms, thereby reporting and alerting to an end-user via multiple delivery mechanisms, of potential sources of resource waste or loss. Further, the alerts or alarms can include easily interpreted recommendations to allow a non-skilled worker to take corrective procedures to maximize efficient use of the consumable resources.
